[ The video opens and Derek's looking straight at the camera, a sort of neutral expression on his face. It's sort of a tight zoom because he's not wearing his shirt and that seems like a bit much to broadcast? Not that he's modest, but it just feels unnecessary.

Behind him, it's mostly dark, but in the street lights, it's easy to see he's still outdoors. If one is paying enough attention, they might notice the beads of sweat at his hairline and the overall sheen on the rest of his face and neck.

He's just gotten back from a run and he's not feeling terribly satisfied with it. He'd gotten sort of used to a more rigorous routine after visiting Cora and he's missing having the sparring session between runs.

If these people, or at least some of them, are really like him to some degree, surely he can find someone to stand in for his sister in her absence for that, right?

He huffs out a breath without actually meaning to do it, suggesting he's still sort of catching it. ]

Is anybody free right now that might want to spar? I know it's late, but I got into a routine back home and I'm sort of missing my partner and I could use a new one. It wouldn't have to be this late all the time, if anyone was interested in making it a reoccurring thing.

[And Derek would see Anton at some point on his way back, tracing his way from the government housing back to the woods. Anton, naturally, has no difficulty spotting Derek. He smiles and approaches him.]

So...anywhere in particular you want to do this?

[ Derek looks toward the source of the voice approaching and offers a smile back. This place is a lot to get used to, but mostly because some of the people, Anton included, don't look the way he's used to seeing people look. It's a good sort of adjustment, he thinks, because it helps him keep his mind more open. ]

Hey, yeah...there's a clearing back toward the edge of the treeline. That way, we're not too close to the buildings in case the scuffling gets kind of loud. I don't want to wake anybody up or piss anybody off.

[ He nods his head in the direction of the woods again and starts to walk, a silent beckon for Anton to join him. ]

Before we actually get started, I should disclose that I have supernatural strength. I have a hunch that it probably won't matter much, but if I need to pull my punches to keep from causing any lasting damage, please let me know?

[He follows Derek, heading toward the treeline with him.]

If I'd known that, I would have worn my plate mail. I don't have any more resistance to that kind of damage than a normal human, if that's what you're asking. I don't heal any faster, either.

[He was the same as a human in great physical strength, but still essentially human in that regard. Now, if Derek were to attack him with fire, he might have some advantages.]

We didn't discuss it. But it is why I was so covered up.

What matters is that it's only activated by skin to skin contact, so something that is likely to come up in a sparring situation.

With a touch I temporarily copy the knowledges and skills of another person. Which is a bit of an invasion of privacy. But too many touches can lead to migraines.

Is there a specific style you have in mind, or a free for all sparring?

[ His eyebrows lift a little bit with surprise at the response. She wouldn't have struck him as the type to be interested in sparring, just by looking at her. Then again, neither would Malia and Malia could kill you just as soon as look at you. ]

I'm not formally trained in any specific styles, so I guess free for all?

[ That part isn't that surprising, but it was worth asking.

Doesn't mean she'd consider holding back,
but it means the opposition would be rawer. ]


How often are you thinking?

My sister and I were sparring almost daily, but I was crashing on her couch and we didn't have jobs or anywhere better to be or anything better to do, so that's probably not realistic here. I'd like to be going daily but having more than one sparring partner could easily make that a thing for me. So a couple or a few times a week?

The shirtless workout look was no actual counter of whether he could hold his own. She'd mirrored enough Hollywood leading men who lifted and worked out enough to look their parts but relied on their doubles for fighting and couldn't take a single punch all that well. Nothing like the rigorous, at times brutal, fight training all of Reginald's children had seen and practiced extensively against each other, before being presented to the world. ]

[ For all he knows, she won't be a good fit for him and she won't be able to challenge him. She might be a human with some energy to burn off and he'll forever have to pull punches.

His total lack of form might be a frustration for her and it might waste her time. Or maybe she's a better fighter than Cora and she'll put him on his ass in a second which would be just as much a waste of her time. It's just as well that they have a first session to see if they're worth one another's time. ]
