Video: 003

[ Marco's video opens on him sitting in a computer chair, which isn't unusual. What is unusual is that he's not wearing anything ridiculous (no Spiderman T-shirt here) and that he actually has a serious look on his face. ]

So since apparently we're doing this the absurdly complicated way:

If you're under 18 and want to work on this whole 'not letting the multiverse destabilize while we're living here' thing, let's coordinate.

Oh, and for all the adults who want to complain about this: I'd much rather work under the leadership of more experienced people. I think leaving us to do our own thing is stupid. But, I also know that there's a zero percent chance we're all going to stay out of it and coordinating minimizes the risk of something going wrong. Consider it harm reduction.

Or, you know, living in the real world.

Well, for one, you're using the word 'nerd' a lot and you just referred to yourself as 'awesome'.

I'm not arguing that multiple eyes aren't awesome. Human eyesight sucks.

[after a moment there's a private video and it's Gabriel with a glowing hand looking. Askew. Wild and a bit crazed. There's a faint blueish tinge around his features as he smiles a tight feral smile.]

So this doesn't happen in this dimension then.

[ Marco switches the video gladly. Honestly, he's probably one of the few people with no communication preference: He grew up when people used phone calls, but also on the early Internet which was all text, and of course he's been on TV so it isn't like being on video bothers him either.

He raises an eyebrow at the glowing hand. ]

Not normal for humans, no. And tell me honestly, did the word 'nerd' used to pop into your head? Because I'm betting that's a no.

No. And this isn't normal for celestials either-

[There's a moment where he closes his eyes tight - struggling with something as the blue glow goes brighter-

And then fades.]

I just needed to confirm that this wasn't a side effect of this reality. Whatever this multiversal thing is - it's affecting me I-

[He does not know. He does not know what to do for the first time in 6000 years and he is willing to bet Aziraphale won't either. They're angels. They're supposed to be above this. Better then this but gosh it feels just like the good old days and after Every little shitty thing that has happened here...

When his violet eyes open they are scared.

Genuinely scared.

It's gone in a heartbeat and the businesslike leader of heaven's hosts is back.]

...What do I do.

[ Seriously, he's asking Marco what to do? Alright. ]

Tell that guy- Poe. Any team you're working with needs to know what's going on so they can make good decisions. Also start keeping records and notes of what's happening to you. You might not be the only one affected and the more information we all have, the better.

Do you think you're dangerous?

I mean, I know you can flatten people. I mean in terms of acting uncontrollably.

[Slow nod. A very slow nod.]

[Oh god. Writing. He stares at his hands and fingers. Blue glowing veins as he glares at him like a child.]

Fine. [He looks enraged.] fine. Privately right? Not to cause a panic.

[The veins glow blue again and he frowns.] I'll contact him now.

[ Since Marco doesn't know what 'blue hand syndrome' does to people. Or angels. Whatever.]

Yes, privately. Though again, I'd share with Poe at least. There should be some attempts to make sure that whatever this is isn't contagious and we should all be on the lookout for it happening.

[ Because that's concerning. ]

Yeah, but remember that 'humans suck' conversation we had? The odds of someone pissing you off are probably pretty high and now really isn't the time for infighting. I can walk away from almost anything anyone does to me, but that's not true for a lot of people.

[Truth time. he is an all powerful celestial being. He has smited cities. He has killed. He is a soldier. an animal.

He is also very used to following orders. Especially now. When power radiates from him. When he burns with it.]

[His eyes glow white and he closes them.]

....I'm worried about my pet.

[The white eyes fade.] ...It's small and stupid but I don't want him-it to get hurt. I'll find a place to put him. Just.

...This is going to hurt a lot of humans Marco. If it affects people.

[ Yeah, glowing eyes usually isn't great. To say the least. At least they go away, though. Marco studies the angel through the network, brown eyes thoughtful, but he does grin at being proclaimed 'cool'.]

Yes, I'm very cool. Good to know you haven't completely lost your marbles.

And yeah, that's about how pets work. Small and stupid but you care for some reason. Maybe Eve could take him for a while? She's nice and she'd probably love to, plus her powers involve convincing people of things so if anybody tried to hurt him she could make them not want to. It's probably the safest place. Plus she doesn't strike me as the type to end up anywhere dangerous if she can help it.

Tell Poe and I'll also keep an eye out.

[His hand is glowing blue. It fades - but not by much.] That.

I doubt anybody could keep up with me. I mean I'm a fucking archangel kid but it's a good suggestion. You know anybody?

Okay, so you've basically been infected with Mean Rachel. Let's see.

[ He pauses and looks at the hand. ]

Blue Mean Rachel. Well, small favors that there's some sort of visible sign to look for at least. It could be worse. Which is always nice, when something goes in our favor for once.

[ aka how should I prioritize this? ]

[He's awesome? The older human male, the celestial being, stares at him and grins. The grin is way too bright. Then.]

[pause. The blue glow fades. He looks more like himself.] ...I have it under control to a degree. If it gets worse I will tell you and then my people and then -

I don't like feeling like this. Okay no that's not true. I love it. This is the same way I felt smiting a city like I am ready. Just keep reminding myself most people aren't worth the-

[his lips press together]

I'm going to contact Dameron now. At the very least if I'm involved in this they can ...do something.

[ If Marco couldn't remorph himself new eyeballs, he'd complain at the brightness. Turn it down a bit, Gabe! ]

She was very cool. Terrifying, but cool. So it fits.

No, I get it. It's that feeling of... like when something goes right, and you've pulled it off and there's no better feeling in the world even if it's killing a bunch of people. Everything is right, and that's what matters.

[ He's got some issues. ]

Good, keep reminding yourself of that. I'll try thinking of some way for you to work this off.

[That makes him smile but it's the same smile he used when trying to kill Aziraphale.]

Yes. And you want to avoid that feeling when shit goes wrong. I want to avoid that. Everything went fine back home until that fucking nerd Aziraphale cancelled the war we were going to have and I tried to kill him and it failed! That...that fucker! That fucking nerd!

[He kicks over the desk with a roar.]

[He's burning for one hot second. The whole room glows blue. He's furious and actually stripping off his tie and his jacket before he freezes and it all goes back to normal.]

...I have to go. I have to get out of here. It's not a war. It's not time for a war yet. I'm not at war am I?

[The guy stares at the camera haunted.]

...I don't want to fight anybody without cause.

[ Yup, that's a scary smile. Which again, Marco's familiar with. Luckily. ]

Look, I'm not going to argue that that guy's a nerd. I mean, he was offended I don't spend time reading books. Like sorry I have more important and interesting things to do.

But maybe we should shelve the free will question for right now. You're not stable, the multiverse isn't stable, let's get all philosophical once we've figured out how to continue existing.

[ RIP in pieces desk. :( Marco runs a hand through his hair. ]

No, we're not at war right now. Not that I'm aware of.

So, you just destroyed that desk. Did that feel good? Maybe we should point you at some inanimate destruction until we can find a better outlet.

[ Now it's Marco's turn to exhale and take a minute. Because don't do that, Gabriel. It's too tempting. It wouldn't be his fault if Gabriel lost control and just happened to obliterate Quentin Beck, would it? ]

Yeah. We're not killing anybody right now.

Message Eve and Dameron and then go find something big, not living, and out of the way to completely destroy.

[Just say the word. Nodding, the archangel smiles that same creepy smile again before shaking it off.]

...This starts? As rage.

If you feel it. If anyone around you feels it. I don't know what is happening but it's from the multiverse. I can know that for sure.

[ Marco nods seriously. ]

That's good to know. Seriously.

Because of course it is. Let's be fractured and emotionally fucked. Why the hell not? That's about par for the course.

[He stares at him at that, gaze white and blue, mind blank.]

...So we'll get them for it. Whoever or whatever is doing this. Hitting back and hitting back together will feel good.

There's a point to rest but this is a fight. We can feel alive doing it. And then...

We're the good guys.

[He looks uncomfortable before closing the video out.]
