I know everyone's focused on the apocalypse right now, and I think that's great because we will prevent it. I... I just don't think I'd be very helpful, not really. Not when I'm being selfish and kind of ignoring it all, and it's even more selfish to ask this when I should offer what I can, but um.

[She looks and sounds nervous, like she's not even sure she should ask or even bring this up. But, at the same time... the deadline is so close. She's not involved -but would be if asked or required- yet the people who are involved are likely stressed.

Maybe this will help?]

When this is all over, what are you looking forward to? I- There's this thing called Thanksgiving, that I think is like an Alolan holiday called Malahiki? But, I don't think it lasts as long. Malahiki lasts a really long time and I know it doesn't have turkeys. [Probably.] And there's this thing called Christmas, here. It sounds close to something back home and it's about giving gifts and being grateful for the friends and people you've met, right? At least, all the ads say so, and- and is there something else to it?

I- I'm looking forward to both, and I'm also looking forward to discovering what other holidays this world has. I didn't really do that in Alola and I wish I had, but- I can't do that now, and some of the holidays here are like home, but a lot aren't. I.. I want to learn about them and not just be - be a tourist.

Um! I-is it like that in your world? Does it have holidays like here?

[Did someone say Christmas aka Gabriel's holiday because he played a big part in it kind of sort of.]

I was involved in Christmas! Granted it was actually in March and human churches got the date wrong but I kind of like that it's in the winter time when the earth cools down. It reminds people what they have to be grateful for.

As it is, it's a human holiday celebrating Jesus's birthday and they go to church and sing songs of praise back home even if it's not his actual birthday but it is a fantastic fantastic human celebration one of the best things humans in my realm have done.

[The longest of shruuuuuugs]

Things get lost in translation.

It's fine though because they ended up picking a decent one even if it involved co-opting a pagan holiday. Christmas is celebrated with a tree and gifts and lots of evergreen.

He symbolizes light in darkness. And people perform the nativity play where they talk about how Mary gave birth to him. Humans have something too, involving St. Nicholas and he travels around the world but the nativity is more important because it happened. I was there. I'm in all the plays.

[There are too many parts to this whole thing that's irritating him. The major one is this outsider talking about Alolan traditions, like she has any right to talk about it at all, but he really doesn't even care to get into that right now.

No, instead he's going to focus on something way more petty.]

Tch, how can you go 'round claimin' you're the champion of Alola that you ain't—when you ain't even willin' to help out when this world needs it most?

So much for being a champion—you no better than that Lance loser.

Yo! Shut it about that mess!

[He snaps quickly, glaring. But after a moment, his demeanor shifts again, becoming more smug and casual as he shrugs.]

You're an idiot, y'know. What's the point of a break when it could mean our destruction, huh?

Take care of the small fry, but when somethin' far more dire shows up, you give up just like that? Pretty pathetic.

You know, I have no idea. We had so many birthdays at home, we kind of forgot about the holidays.

But if you want help setting up with your holiday, I'm happy to help.

I'm looking forward to not having to worry about the apocalypse, too.

Personally, I'm looking forward to New Year's. It's nice to have a holiday that's shared between Japan and America and I enjoy writing out the postcards I'll send to my friends.

This'll be my first Christmas spent this far from home...I mean, last Christmas was in Germany and that was pretty far away from home too, but at least I was in the right time period. Now, I can't even mail letters to my folks or make presents for them.

I hope the world doesn't end before Christmas, at least. I don't want to miss Christmas here, I bet it's even more exciting.

I suppose I already missed Guy Fawkes' night, didn't I? What a pity. [Setting off a few fireworks and gathering around a bonfire is always a good time.

But she smiles, regardless.

But I think most of the holidays are the same. I'm from England, so we don't have Thanksgiving.

Where I'm from, Thanksgiving is a thing but I don't really celebrate it. We keep with older holidays. I'm looking forward to Saturnalia--basically Christmas in a way?

You know. That and having a chance to relax and breathe easy.
