So.
Anyone seen the Doctor lately? Now I know he's terrible at keeping in touch and shows up three days later despite swearing that he honestly only meant to be gone twenty minutes but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Won't answer his messages. Hasn't left any cryptic note. Also hasn't popped up rather obnoxiously in the middle of something important to drag me off to go do something completely ridiculous.
Basically. This is a poster for a lost Time Lord. Tall gangly, floppy hair, ridiculous bowtie, purple tweed, annoying but endearing disposition. If you see him, contact me, Clara Oswald, immediately. Much obliged.
[Text-Four Hours Later.]
Important question. When people leave here, what are the signs? It can't just be random. What happens to their things? Their apartment?
How do you know for sure they're really gone?

The government might come and pick up the stuff after a week or something, I dunno.
[A pause.]
As for knowing for sure...their comm will basically give you a "this number has been disconnected" after a bit.

[She exhales.]
Thank you. I'll collect his things.

Sometimes they don't come back and sometimes they do but with no memory of this place.
[She's a little bummed to hear the Doctor is gone, he was fun to mess with when she got the chance.]

[Or so she wants to believe.]
No memory? All this time here completely lost?

But it doesn't seem like I'm the only one who's lost someone to this place.

But it seems like we'll never know until he does. He had friends that he met here. They should know he's gone.

I'm sure they appreciate it, though... It's never easy losing people. Even for a little while.

[She sighs and her bangs flutter.]
And I can't hold out foolish hopes. Just have to keep moving.

Kenzi's right that people pop out and back in, especially during the first few weeks.
After that, they might come back but they're a lot less likely to remember.
Happened to me once, or at least that's what they told me. But I'm not sure I believe that story about me joining a band.
[Peter's not as unphased by the implications of time shenanigans and memory loss as he fronts. But he gets the feeling that Clara might appreciate the matter-of-fact, business-as-usual approach -- and he's already had the Porter-imposed identity crisis, anyway.]

If he comes back then I'll have watched all his stuff and made sure it's all proper. If not then no one's left wondering. Just taking care of business. Someone's got to.

Gauging What Amount Of Time That Can Involve Is Pretty Much Impossible
But The Likelihood Lessens As The Time Stretches On
After A Week You Shouldnt Assume Its Temporary
After A Month You Shouldnt Hope Theyll Remember Anything That Has Occurred On This World If Ever You Do See Them Again

I appreciate your honest and detailed response.

It Can Unfortunately Tend To Be A Very Common Occurrence
