How do you know you're real?
How do you know that someone else didn't write you, paint you, dream you? How do you know you're not just a figment of someone else's imagination? A fictional thing.
And most importantly, would it matter to you? To be as such? Or to know that other is as such? Would it change the way you think of yourself or someone else? Can you truly be more than whatever someone else thought you up to be?
Are we really ever free?

I dreamed you up. I made you real. And now I turn you loose upon the world, without restrictions, to go forth and do everything that makes your dear little heart go pitter-pat.
You're welcome.

It's what we do here, in this reality, that's the most important.

Of course you were, but she is merciful and despite... [His smile flickers] despite the fact that it may not seem that way she loves you. And she makes people all the time.
[He spreads his hands] She made me! But that...the notion of free.
[Gabriel nods] Well. That's your choice isn't it? She gave you that choice.

You, on the other hand, will have to confront the rising of the sun, and the passing of days. You might even need to eat breakfast. It's a very different kind of existence from that of a sculpture, wouldn't you say?
Do you want to be real?

Freedom is hard to define. Even people who think they're free can be chained down by something like a social construct that does not benefit the majority of people. But on the other hand, even if they are held down by that thing, so long as they can exert free will, with or without consequences, they are on some level free. Does that make sense?
Re: Text
I guess that when reason fails, there is always the unspeakable, unknowable. The feelings and the beliefs we carry. Even doubting is evidence we have the will to do so, I guess.

Well then. Have a god of Norse mythology. And he not only decides to respond to this in video format because he's too lazy to type, but also to present you with a big book titled nothing else but Norse Mythology. He may have borrowed that from the library a few months ago. ]
It may be very inaccurate, but it's actually fun to read.

I've meant to read that. Why do you say it's inaccurate?
