[On the table before Morris is a full chess set. Half the figures are gleaming and gold. He picks up the final white piece. It's plastic but as he holds it, it transforms into solid shiny metallic gold. He appears pleased and places it with the rest.]

They do look quite pretty, don't they.

Would anyone like some made for themselves? Maybe another figure?

Or we could have a game of chess.

[He gives a genuinely friendly smile, nods.]

Just let me know and we could have a pleasant get together.

Oh, and does anyone here know about gold valuation? I may have need of your services.

With what?

Ah! You mean the power of Midas? I believe I now have it under some modicum of control.

[gloves]

Yeah, with that.

But with who you trust. There are plenty of people who try to take advantage of useful powers. And turning things into gold? That’s pretty useful.

[john_morris]

Oh of course. I shall be careful.

I am uncertain how pure this gold is though. Sometimes it feels... corrupted, if that makes any sense. That is why I need somebody who knows of such things to properly value it.

[gloves]

Oh. Well. Then, yeah, have a few unrelated people look at it and see if they tell you the same thing.

Have you been long in this place?

[gloves]

[ Miss Rogue. Oh. Ok. She was sort of expecting "no one named you that" or "no, your real name" or "that's edgy." ]

A little over a month.

Half of it was spent in that other world, though. Which, from what I've heard is just a regular sort of month here.

I have also been here for about a month. I do not know of another world? It only appears to be another time. Very, very far into the future.
