Ah, hello. This one is uncertain how to start, though she supposes she just did. Apologies. Khajiit is unused to speaking to crowds and the humans who explained this contraption she has been told is not a speaking stone but works much the same will be able to 'reach the masses'. 

Khajiit is new to this world and has been told that her being brought here was an accident. She must say, of all the times she has traveled between worlds, doing so in her sleep is both the most peaceful and most disorientating. Waking up somewhere unexpected and unknown is always so, yes?

Ah, but the point, it is getting away from Khajiit.

This one was told that she should make herself known and say 'hello' and also let her soon to be roommates at... "Government Housing Number 004 in Heropa" she will be arriving soon. It is very kind of the government in this world to not make her pay for accommodations. Though she is less certain about the job for pay she has been told has been arranged for her. There was no mention of the rewards for such work or if it was a short term or long term assignment. She is also not certain what exactly she is supposed to be doing... What lawn maintenance is needed at a cemetery? Do the dead rise up and the ground need stomping back down?

The assigned jobs seem to be permanent, but they're not mandatory. The government won't help you with the reassignment, though.

There have been incidences of walking corpses, but it's not common. If I had to guess, it's a menial labor job.

Menial labor job? Is this one supposed to rake the leaves? That hardly seems necessary. The dead do not care about leaves.

This is one is unsure of what the powers of the native population are so she cannot say for certain. She has only just arrived within the last day. Thankfully she did not fall from the sky in the doing.

I'm guessing this is outside of what you're used to, then. I'm not native either, but I've been here for--[Kark, it's been a lot longer than he thought.]--nearly two years. I can answer questions about the planet.

This one finds that hard to believe. The humans are the ones that created the 'portal' that brought us here are they not? Surely that takes some power or magic. Even the Dwemer, well known for their mechanical contraptions, used magic to power many of their devices.

But Khajiit will assume for the time being the human is correct. Please, tell her about this world. What is it called? Is it on the plane of Mundus? It does not seem to be part of Oblivion, but there are realms of Oblivion that are stranger still.

No, it wasn't them. I can't do the full explanation any justice, but other beings created the Porters. What the locals get up to around here is all mechanical, nothing supernatural.

The planet's called Earth. It's in the Solar System, in the mid-rim of the Milky Way Galaxy. None of the terms you've used sound familiar so far, so I'm going to assume the answer is "no".

That does make things more difficult. It would be most convenient to return to where she was if she were simply to let herself die and be taken away. But she has read the file and the pamphlet and received a gift basket with some small things that have explained that should she die here, she will reform a little more worse for the wearing.

Unfortunate. Dying is a useful tactic.

[Dying could be a useful tactic if it gave others a chance to do what was necessary, but that definitely doesn't sound like what this person is talking about.]

The Porter's the only thing that can send anyone back, and it can't be compelled to do so.

Dying especially thoroughly can send you back to the Heropa Porter after several days, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Why would one need to mow the grass? It is there to grow. And why the watering? Does it not rain?

Cause bugs can hide in tall grass and spread diseases. And if grass is tall and dry, it's a fire hazard.

And people like cemeteries to look nice.

Bah. That is the way of nature. And rats and birds spread just as much disease as bugs can and humans let them wander their cities, do they not? Besides, cemeteries all look much the same. If they wanted it to look nice, they'd do proper burials in mausoleums or mummification urns or cremation urns. Bodies in the ground are so inelegant.

Let them?  We stop them when we can by you know, keeping places clean so they don't attract germs and animals that carry germs. [He avoids disease and disease carriers to an obsessive degree.]  Besides, bugs aren't cute.

And this one never said people do not have family buried. She is very familiar with the familial burial tendencies of the humans.

So show some respect if your're gonna work at a cemetery.  Or get a different job.  Maybe the city can hire you to catch all those rats.

The little one speaks as if this one chose the assignment. And she shows plenty of respect for the dead. She is among them, is she not?
