The Queen's ship was damaged in their escape. Watto's shop was the only one that had the parts. I helped them get the money for them, and Master Qui-Gon realized I was already using the Force, without training and on instinct. He arranged to take me with him, back to Coruscant, to be evaluated by the Jedi High Council. He decided he'd take me on as his Padawan learner once Obi-Wan passed his Trials, and he was my guardian basically. I think. Anyway, I stayed with him. And when we went back to Naboo to help the Queen fight off the invasion, I got to go with them.
