[ The viewpoint spins very slowly and smoothly, not showing a face but a tree, the bark, a branch, a nest. Occasionally tiny fuzzy grey heads stick out over the nest, and their squawking can be heard. The nestlings are grey and white, with pin feathers and a couple have a crest. Someone is studying a nest of blue jays. ]

I’m pretty sure there is a parent around, but only pretty sure. I don’t really know what they are either. Some kind of bird but? Are they going to be alright? They keep yelling.

Which isn’t what I was thinking about saying, but they caught my attention. Anyway, I’ve been filled in, including being told I was here before, even if I don’t remember.

[ With that Anakin pulls the device closer to him, turning it to record him. He’s young, the scar over his face fresh and his hair is very short – he’s only recently knighted and had his braid cut, and his hair is still very short from the more traditional haircut. And his smile is not quite confident, even shy. ]

My name’s Anakin Skywalker, I’ve been here a couple days now. And um, so you need a ‘driver’s license’ I’ve been told. How many of you have gotten one, how did you do it? I’ve been a pilot all my life, these cars have to be easier than a ship. Even a speeder.

[ Padmé nearly upends her cup trying to respond, her movement is so fast at Anakin's voice suddenly playing from the newest network feed. Her training catches the cup before the caf can even slosh over the edge, but the channel is already opening at the same time. It's not as graceful as she's managed much larger surprises, and even horrors, or even as graceful as the patience she's maintained since she arrived in this strange world, with all it
s strange details.

Relief is too great a wave, breaking the swell shores of propriety, for a quick message that skips greeting for directness. ]

[ There is only a slight fumble as Anakin immeditately snapped to, alert and focused on her. His eyes light up with utter joy, he could barely - BARELY - restrain his (much warmer) smile from splitting his face in to. He doesn't even notice whispers her name. ]

M'lady Amidala. I am in a city called Heropa, in a park near the complex I have been assigned to.

I haven't but I've also never seen vehicles like this before I came here. I mostly flew archwings. And I have a k-drive but those are like the skateboards you find here. Just, you know, with engines.

They are so small. It's warm enough out too, little things need water to drink too.

As far as a driver's license, you go to what is called a Department of Motor vehicles to register for the test.

There, you get a booklet that tells you what is required. To get the license itself, you have to both answer a written test and also show you can operate a vehicle, so you will need to practice with someone else who has one first.

[ The words rang painfully in Luke's ears, to the point where he wasn't sure if he could even respond. He knew it was possible, that people could drop in and out at any time and have no memory of the world, but having it happen with his father? Losing him as well as his boyfriend in such a short time, only to have one back with no memory of anything? It hurt, so much; more than he cared to admit. ]

You need to go to your city's driving agency. You can use the paperwork you received on arrival as your imPort proof and residency, and need to pass a driving test before you can get a license.

[ He hesitated, feeling like he needed to say more than that, but coming up empty. ]

[ Anakin, as such, hadn't been doing much more than glancing at the names on the screen, rather than studying them. He'd commit them to memory later if he spoke to people more than once or twice. That doesn't mean he doesn't see 'Skywalker' pop up. Sadly it was just not an uncommon name on Tatooine, even if it was extremely uncommon to be attached to anyone who wasn't a slave. It wasn't his mother's surname originally, she hadn't even remembered what her's had been - hence. Skywalker. It means the young man draws his attention, his concern. His focus is sharp but also, honestly, very friendly. ]

[ Anakin has learned to scrub Tatooine and Huttesse/Outer Rim accent from his voice, better to fit in on Coruscant and the Temple, but as he talks to Luke, that fades into his more natal accent, only a step above Tatooine gutter trash but softened. ]

It took a while, but if you can manage other craft, it's just a matter of learning the controls.

[She could have sworn he was already in this world ... but so much has happened that she certainly could have missed any number of people coming and going. Or coming back.]

I'd also get away from those birds. Their parents should be around and they can be pretty vengeful.

I've been flying craft longer than some of these people seem to have been alive. Controls can't be that difficult.

[ He doesn't know he's much younger than the other version of himself. ]

Are they dangerous? I'm not used to babies making that much noise. Typically they are quiet so they don't get eaten.

[the birds catch his attention, they're not too different as back home if he can remember, just no magical types attached to them. He'd remembered seeing how Oricorio were with their babies back home, so maybe he could offer some help there.]

Their mother or father should be nearby watching over them, if they're anything like the bird pokemon from back home, or their parents are getting them something to eat. They're yelling because they're hungry.

[He's no help with the driver's license unfortunately, he's only been here about a month and hasn't tried to get it yet.]

That's comforting.

[ He's going to study that mask, laser-focused and sharp. The voice is another later, but there's something strange about the style of it. The lightsaber burn on his face is only weeks old, and there's a lack of movement on a section of hair just behind his right ear from his braid being cut off and hair burned by Yoda's lightsaber. ]

The Battle of Geonosis was nearly five Galatic Standard Months ago. I assume you are from home too?

How do they survive? Something is going to eat them.

I like to be. Out. In gardens or fields or woods. I like to watch animals in general, although I don't think I've seen any as young as this.

[ It's civil but Anakin doesn't feel overly welcome - it's the driving home of her family, the title tangled in with House Organa - because even if she's stressing Senator Bail Organa as her family, that also makes her the Queen's daughter. So his posture snaps to in a way that's almost a bit painful in how quickly the more friendly, outgoing nature Anakin has thus far displayed over the network vanishes. Replaced by a more formal, distant smile with a little too much stress around the eyes and jaw to say he's not at all comfortable. Still, he closes his eyes and gives her a respectful bow of his head. When his head comes back up, it doesn't come completely back up, his eyes remain just slightly down. He is quite well aware of the social ladder, Jedi Knight or no, and ex-slave boys don't look royalty in the face. Not if they want to avoid conflict. ]

An honor and privilege to meet you, Your Highness. I've had the opportunity to hear a couple of Senator Organa's speeches in person, they were quite something. I've only met him in passing when I was assigned a security detail to Senator Amidala, as they often work together. He seems a great man, one who truly puts what is best for the Republic and her people before his own ambitions.

[ Does he have questions? Honestly yes, many of them. However, he would very much like to just have Padmé talk with her and fill him in later. ]

If their parent is around they should be fine. Birds are good about taking care of their own, so long as they don't smell human hands on them.

As for driving, I recently got my licence in this place as well. It's not hard, but there are a lot of laws.

If the face in the communicator is one that Anakin even knows, it's a fair amount older than the ones he knows too, face far more lined and worn than he was as a keen shiny, all of ten years old and practically gleaming with it. That shock of close-cropped blond hair is the same, though. ]

[ Anakin shifted the device closer, peering closely and deeply at the image. The man is a clone trooper, he's completely certain of that. But he's far than any Clone Anakin has seen. But it's the hair that finally clues him in. Anakin's brows raise, then knit - he's only had his own men a few weeks - and he's determined to commit them all to memory. ]

What's a speeder like?

They seem distressed though. Maybe the parents are having trouble finding food?

Depends on the speeder and the modifications. Some you stand, some you sit, some you stand but there is a butt support. Most require hand controls for speed, direction, and breaking. And that's just the single person speeders. There are two-person speeders but also land speeders for like families and small groups. I think it's like the 'cars' you have here?
