[ The viewpoint spins very slowly and smoothly, not showing a face but a tree, the bark, a branch, a nest. Occasionally tiny fuzzy grey heads stick out over the nest, and their squawking can be heard. The nestlings are grey and white, with pin feathers and a couple have a crest. Someone is studying a nest of blue jays. ]

I’m pretty sure there is a parent around, but only pretty sure. I don’t really know what they are either. Some kind of bird but? Are they going to be alright? They keep yelling.

Which isn’t what I was thinking about saying, but they caught my attention. Anyway, I’ve been filled in, including being told I was here before, even if I don’t remember.

[ With that Anakin pulls the device closer to him, turning it to record him. He’s young, the scar over his face fresh and his hair is very short – he’s only recently knighted and had his braid cut, and his hair is still very short from the more traditional haircut. [ Was she expecting him to pay attention to what she said? Because he's only sort of hearing what she say, not listening. He's focusing on the saber, the details of how it's made, what embellishments, so on. ]

You favor Makashi?

[ Yes, he's actually turning his head like he can change the angle of viewing. ]

I favour a lot of things. This “Makashi” isn’t one of them as I don’t know what you’re referring to.

[ She looks down at her saber, curious now. ]

[ He is very, very, confused. ]

Oh. I’ve never actually practiced many forms. I...mostly went through the basics, along with some meditation. That was when Master Obi-Wan was here.

[ Her voice softens then: ] Which was some time ago.

Since then, I haven’t really touched my saber. Or my training.

Soresu, or Form III, is his form. He's the best you could learn that form from.

[ Now he's just quiet. He misses his friend-father-brother person. It hasn't even been that long, and it's an ache. ]

May I ask why?

You’re speaking a whole different language, just so you know. I didn’t properly get into my training until recently. Maybe within the last year or so. I was never given the opportunity from a young age to learn, as you had.

[ Now she sighs, sets her saber off to the side on the table. ]

Many reasons. Things got complicated, after he left. Or things came up that took more priority.

There are different lightsaber forms, which focus on how you chose to fight, with a focus on offense, defense, a mix of the two, with one saber or two, and how you move. They are numbered, but they also all have a name.

[ This at least, he's confident enough with to explain. ]

I'm not- I'm pretty terrible at meditation. But if you can make time for it, it's generally a good idea. Keeps you centered. And honestly, you can get away with skrimping on sleep occasionally with it.

[ She has to laugh at that. ]

You and I both. I think it was more of a pain for Obi-Wan to try each time with encouraging me to meditate. But he was always patient—very patient.

I could give you lessons if you wanted?

[ Hey he made her laugh. That...was reassuring anyway. ]

He always is. Even when I was young and well. I wasn't the easiest Padawan, and we were both feeling some growing pains. Not just in meditation but all of it. Helping me with my lessons. When I was thirteen, when I made my first lightsaber, that's when a Jedi would actually take someone on as a Padawan, after they passed their Initiate Trials, and you typically give them a gift. He gave me this amazing little rock, it's something like the crystals in our sabers, Force Sensitive. I'd always carried it with me, until after Geonosis. I was worried I'd lose it.

[ He blushes a little, realizing he's rambling. ]

I'm better at moving meditation. There are a couple types of those as well if you think those might work better for you

[ His offer catches her by surprise. But then Leia has to remember that this version of her father isn't what she's been used to, in all her time here. It takes her a second to compose herself, clearing her throat as she looks down at her lap. Specifically her lightsaber. ]

I appreciate the offer. I'd like to think on it, if that's alright with you.

[ His rambling is something she listens to regardless; it's part of his upbringing, history and stories the other version had never shared. Leia was curious. ]

And... you mean a kyber crystal? Did you come here with it on you?

[ Anakin doesn't think he's a particularly good Jedi. Given how many others avoid him on an all but superficial level, how he's spoken to even with the rank of Jedi Knight achieved, he's not alone in that feeling. He's too emotional, feels too much and too deeply, even when it came to the Force, can't meditate worth shit, he's too impatient, too rash, too angry. Wants things a Jedi shouldn't want, has things that aren't a lightsaber, he's married and deeply in love. There are so many things he is that a Jedi should not be. He's even wanted to leave, on and off, since he was twelve. Being a Jedi is what he was raised to be. It's what he knows. All he knows. It's a sincere offer yes. But he's not solely offering just because he feels it's what he should do. But he also can't sense Obi-Wan here - and even with star systems between them, because of their training bond, he's been able to for years. Padmé is here and he's delighted. But he's also feeling lost, alone, and isolated. Reaching out to another Force User, someone his Master deemed worthy to train - there are personal reasons behind it too. ]

Yeah, it's an open offer.

[ He's she listens. Listens and isn't irritated with him. There's only three people who do, and only one of them is here. ]

No, it's a type of river rock. Blueish purple-grey in color. I left it on my command ship. Some of my tools are here, but it's not.
