[ Barbara doesn't truly, completely accept that Bruce is gone until she finds out that she's in charge of Wayne Enterprises.

In a way, that makes it easier. She looks calm and professional, in this announcement; she's even wearing a suit, and some of her hair is pulled back into a bun. ]

Bruce Wayne has gone home.

[ She's already vented her feelings about what he's going back to, mostly to her punching bag, so her voice is steady. ]

He's left me control of Wayne Enterprises. I've decided to quit my current job as a teacher to focus on that, because - they do important work.

Speaking of which, the mental health clinic is still going ahead. Any questions or concerns can now be directed at me.

[ She takes a breath, tucks a stray strand of hair behind her ear. ]

In fact, anything you were working on with him, anything you needed - please don't hesitate to come to me. I'm not Bruce, but I'll do my best. If I can't help you, I'll find someone who can.

[ She makes a slight Face that lasts just a second. Even if they weren't always in frequent communication, her level of admiration and respect for him had been there. Sure, filthy rich Americans weren't her favorite kinds of people (Tony Stark), but she first met him as Batman, had been on his Justice League here for a while, he always liked her baked goods and helped her dig herself out of her own grave once. ]

He's starting to make a habit of this.

[ Not hat he can help it. This is what, his second — third, maybe? — time being ported out in the four years she's been here. ]

You don't know how relieved I am. Last big CEO that got ported out left me without a job and a bunch of technology sold off to the OTO.

[He's not really sure how to react. He hadn't seen him around for a while, but Bruce here hasn't exactly been all about Being Available, so he'd sort of thought he was just doing his own thing for a while and didn't want to be bothered.

You know, people have gone to some extremes to avoid me interviewing them, but I don['t think anyone can beat "left the dimension entirely."

[She's not being fair. Bruce had actually been pretty accommodating, even after she very strongly implied she knew his secret identity. If this world wasn't disaster after disaster, they probably would have had that interview after all. It was just bad luck.]

[ She grimaces, shaking her head. ] Sounds like a nightmare.

I haven't been in there much yet. It feels... [ Like she's trespassing. Which is stupid, so she shakes her head. ] I'll have to get used to it. A little hooligan climbing into my window wouldn't hurt.

[ Her brow furrows, and there's some typing off screen. She only glances away for a moment. ]

You were adapting your tech to therapeutic use. [ There's a note of wariness in her voice, but mostly she sounds intrigued. ] I don't see any reason why it shouldn't. How's your progress?

[ Donna. Well, this isn't how she wanted their first conversation to go. ]

Thanks. [ She hesitates, because no matter how often you deal with multiversal nonsense it never quite stops feeling awkward. ] ...Do you know me?

[ That pulls a soft, bleak laugh out of her. ] Well, no one ever claimed he wasn't an extreme kind of person.

...Do you still want to interview the CEO?

I am, yeah. Read the files already, I take it?

A good chunk of them, yeah. At least I've got that skill nailed down.

I think I wouldn't be surprised if it did. I haven't messed with the porter in two or three years, and that didn't go well, so definitely not messed with it in recent times to see if it has.
