I had a question that I was hoping someone might have an insight on.

( for people that remember her last post or have seen her since might notice that she doesn't seem as bright as usual, a little more subdued though that could just be pushed off as her being a little contemplative )

A little while ago I interviewed someone for a self-defence class, though I'm not able to reach them now. ( that's a separate issue but she's trying to keep it work focused ) I still have the classes available if anyone would be interested or has experience in being an instructor.

( it was something that had only been partly getting set up but she'd make sure it was finished off if someone did want the job. really, she's asking on a more personal note in wanting to talk to someone about self-defence training but she doesn't want to publicly put that out there )

If anyone has a recommendation or skill I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Thank you. I'm Mrs Sheringham. ( she'll use her own introduction as a way to ask who she was talking to ) I suppose I'll start with how long you've been doing this.

People call me Andy. [ With a twinge of wryness: ] And I've been doing this most of my life. Tried a little bit of everything. You can have your pick.

To start with perhaps the basics of self-defense, being able to protect yourself.

Sure. The accessible shit. Might be easier to invest in a taser, but I can teach a few basic moves. Maybe a throw or two, if anyone's feeling ambitious.

I wouldn't start recommending everyone gets a taser. Are you able to come to HOPE so I can see how you work?

Because that is indeed what Ochako wanted for a profession - if she can't be a full time Pro Hero in this world. Teach others what she had been taught, and learning even more - helping others learn to protect and defend themselves...it's perfect.]

I'm glad that there's interest. Can I ask how long you've been learning?

[floatsaway]

Eh? Oh, hmm... [She taps a finger to her chin thoughtfully. Boy, how long has it been since she learned Gunhead's martial arts techniques?] Maybe six months now? Just about.

But I'm trained in battle strategy - defensive and offensive - back at the school in my world. I'm nearly finished my first full year there, and I've taken internships and work studies with professionals in the field who are experienced fighters and professional heroes.

Have you ever taught anyone before?

( though even if the girl says no it won't make much difference, she's got a few more questions and maybe something in mind )

Not officially, no...other than group studies with my friends after school, or before a big exam, ehehe. [She looks a little sheepish, and her age is probably showing now, considering she's only 15, perhaps 16 tops.]

But I like to help people, and if I have to learn how to teach, I'd be happy to do it!! Learning to defend oneself is a skill I think everyone should have, especially in a society where villains are so prevalent. If this is how I can keep people safe, I want to do the best I can!

I think it's still something you could help with, particularly with a youth class.

( she had a good attitude to her and maybe that could work well over an adult instructor. it was something to try )

Can I get you to come into HOPE one day, to see some of what you know?

[Oh, a youth class? That actually sounds fun!! Teaching peers - or those even younger than her - how to protect themselves, stay calm and level-headed, and know when to fight and when to deflect and run seems right up her alley. There is very clear excitement in her voice and on her face.]

I'd love that! And I'm not doing anything at the moment... I could stop by, if you're not busy, miss. [She hasn't gotten an update on her school schedule (the US school year makes literally zero sense to a Japanese girl who only has maybe 2 weeks off in summer, not a deadass two months), and uh...her "job" is only part time, and Ochako's not sure if she'll even stay there, to be honest. Actually, now that Ochako thinks about it--]

Um...m-might I ask, will there be compensation for this, or is it strictly volunteer work?

[ He nods to her, waggling a finger. And yes, he considers her a friend. ]

I don't know, I just know that I haven't been able to contact John about finalising a schedule.

( and she'd given it a few days, checking again before doing this.

[ That was bad news, if true. He sighs, wincing a little. He hates it when that happens. ]

[ Still, he watches her, and considers, then rises, his camera following him as he walks. it is silly to talk over this thing when they are so near. ]

Got any plans for lunch?

I'm assuming that I'm about to have plans.
