[It had taken a lot of time for Atsushi to even consider college. This world didn't seem to press for it, so he had almost talked himself out of wanting an education. But living with two teachers and their student makes it hard to ignore school and learning. Eventually, he'd decided to look into it... and, naturally, found a disappointing roadblock.

Still. Atsushi is determined to make use of his time here. So even if it's a little bit (very) embarrassing, he figures there is no harm in trying.]

Good day. Sorry to be a bother.

I was wondering what everyone here knew about getting a high school education? Like... Say you're too old to go to high school anymore, but you... can't pass the college acceptance exam as you are now. And you don't even know what a major is exactly... But you're interested.

[He's definitely not talking about himself, he would like to say! But Atsushi is very bad at lying.]

I'm probably not smart enough to do any of the science courses-- I mean. Uh. If the 'you' I'm talking about wasn't smart enough to... [uck] The point is. What kinds of things can you even go to college for that aren't science? If I-- you, could even get in.

[Lying is so exhausting!]

There art a great many of topics to attend courses on outside of what is considered science.

[Sorry, you asked about education.]

There are methods to educate oneself if thou desire to turn to academia, also as an ImPort there may be differing rules on qualifications to enter in to such endeavors. I also recall there being some... equivilancy to gaining a certification from a High School.

Aye, though only as a matter of curiosity. I hath little reason to pursue such a thing, I am well versed already in matters of academia.

You can take classes to get a GED, which is equivalent to a high school diploma. That's what I did to get into college.

There's all sorts of degrees available. What are you interested in doing?

I remember seeing Library Science at one point, and there are multiple degrees available under English or Literature. If you find you don't like it, you can always switch your major to something else.

America has some fucking GED you can take, similar but inferior to Japan's Certificate.

How fast you graduate depends on you. You sound like a loser.

[To be honest, Katsuki didn't even realize Atsushi was lying.]

It ain't that different from Japan, but the material is disgustingly easy. You don't learn Japanese, but you do learn math, the level depending on where you're at academically, English, some kind of history or social science course and some sort of science. You can also take foreign languages or other shit too.

There's plenty of topics you can concentrate in, yo. What kinds of things are you interested in? Maybe I could suggest something.

[There's a pause, and he considers for a moment.] I could probably tutor you in a couple of subjects if you want, too. Depends on what you need help with.

There's the g.e.d. test that others mentioned. There are g.e.d classes to prepare for that test and adult high school classes to help you catch up. Most colleges have websites that describe their majors and classes.

Not being good at science doesn't mean you're not smart. People have different kinds of smarts. You should look into 'arts' courses, like literature, history, geography, politics. Or business classes like economics. Or into education or law. There's lots of options.

Not as expensive as college classes. As an import, there might be discounts or even free classes.

Rental suit?

( Tony might be sitting amid what used to be an intact car engine. It happens. Anyway- )

By now I'm pretty sure you know what a GED is, so- ( taking a swig of water here, ) -If college isn't an option and you're more interested in working with your hands, maybe hit up trade school.

Either way, you're gonna want some kind of academic assessment testing, and tutoring for the basics. Are you registered?

Fortunately, ( he corrects, while he wipes down his hands, ) You get a free ride, kid. All registered imPorts get their education costs taken care of.

( Tony totally looked into it, shortly after bullying Hiro about college. )

Look, I work for a high school here in Heropa. Right now, anyway. But if you're serious about wanting to go back to school, I can talk to some people.
