You've Got to be Kitten Me! [Video, OTA]

Some of you may have heard about this, but now that vaccines and worms and stuff are fully cleared, I wanted to introduce everyone to my newest housemate! He's a little clingy, so you'll probably see him hanging with me or Kon wherever we happen to be, so if you're allergic to cats, you might want to say so if we're planning to hang out so he can be with the other parent.

But yeah, he's the cutest, and he just wouldn't let go after being rescued. Poor guy clearly has abandonment issues, or at least doesn't like to be alone when he can be with someone. Still trying out names, but mostly he's just the fur-monster and besides, how can you not want to boop that snoot?

[And Bart suits his words to actions before letting the kitten climb up his shirt to perch on a shoulder.]

Anyway, I just wanted to say that he's the luckiest black cat in the world, and if you've never considered a pet, well, there are plenty that would love to consider you! I'm actually talking with a few of the shelters in Heropa to feature some of their older and special needs pets on my stream in the future so stay tuned for more!

I know, I know. Like with human kids, you're supposed to introduce new foods slowly.

And the potted wheatgrass just makes sense because then I know there aren't any weird fertilizers or pesticides that might harm him when he decides to eat it. Good thing the kitchen garden is also organic, although we'll still have to fence it off. Toxic leaves and such.

Checking for hitchhiking kittens is an important part of leaving the house now. Since we wanted to keep him in isolation until the dewormer and fleas and stuff were taken care of.

Come on over whenever, though. Maybe he'll do more than find a place to hide and stare.

He'll probably find a place to hide and stare. But I can help you look around and find issues, including coming up with plans for when he decides he wants to claw things?

I wrapped all the cables in the entertainment room with the no-chew bandages the vet uses since we're working on not using the spot behind the consoles as a place to hide. He's not sure about the alternatives we've put out, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time and the right hidey-hole.

And he's got plenty of things to claw that will hold scent, although mostly he just climbs one of us. Wear stuff you don't mind getting holes in if he comes out.

You guys worked on getting him used to a kneading blanket?

The vet suggested not leaving him with anything too soft. With how badly he was weaned, there's a possibility he could develop pika, not that they really know for certain why any animal does that.

Yeah, that's a good point. But in the future it's something to consider, to keep you all from being clawed up.

I heal fast, remember. It's no big for me, and Kon's Kon.

We've got a lot of battles to pick from, and as long as it's just climbing and not combat, I think we can put that off. But we've gotten some little ramps and climbing furniture for him so he can choose to use those as alternatives. Things may have gone a little overboard, we got a couple of each of the cat furniture and toys he seems to like so we can trade them between the rooms and help make him feel more secure.

Yes, but you do intend to have guests at some point, so it is something to consider for the future.
