This is a really weird question but... what do you call your grandparents?
My grandfather says "Grandfather" is too formal but "Grandpa" is taken and calling him by his first name would just be weird.
[This is so not a problem she was prepared for. Time travel is weird.]

I guess you use grandpa for the other one?
Re: Voice
[She's not sure how public her mom has been about being adopted and everything so... probably better to not go into details]
Every grandparent died before I was born so I never had to worry about what they wanted to be called. Grandad could work, that's more casual...

[She did catch that]
He did say he wanted less formal. Gramps isn't formal.

Yeah, and if he's ever in a bad mood, you can call him grumps.

[That last part gets a laugh]
Okay getting more tempting.

[He grins.] So, who's your grandfather anyway?
no subject
The one who's here is Anakin Skywalker.

[Woah. Eddie might have been able to figure that out with her family tree, but he still thinks of him as darth vader.] Oh..that's..wow. Is he a good grandfather?

The closest familial link I ever spoke with besides my mother was the ghost of my long-dead ancestor. And I'm not about to propose you call anyone blood of my blood.
[It was weird enough being called "flesh of my flesh" all the damned time, he wouldn't wish the other on anyone.]
But if "grandfather" annoys him, all the more reason to go with it. Tell him to put on his big boy robes and deal with it.
Re: Voice
[That's just weird why are Sith so weird]
This is the first time I've ever had living grandparents. It changes things.

If you never knew them before, practically speaking it's no different from meeting a stranger. Or a new in-law, if you insist on using familial relations for this scenario.
Whether they're alive or dead doesn't really matter.

[Not from personal experience, of course, any familial relations of his were long since dead. But a combination of people watching and noticing several tacky apparel items was certainly indicating a trend.]

I don't have grandparents, so I can't advise here. Is it weird, getting to know them now?

Nice, though.

I'm not sure if it matters what people actually say, provided you call him what feels right. What I would do is look up each of the terms. See where they're from. If you're going to borrow a word, you may as well know the culture it's from.

I'm trying to figure out what feels right.
I think Mom would insist I learn about the culture if I use their word.
