Greetings, fellow network users!

[Lucina smiles, a touch sheepish, but no less friendly as she waves at the camera. she's got a fairly decent-yet-overcast fall day as her backdrop......and a heinous affront to aesthetics for a coat. because Lucina.]

As I was checking up on things on here, I wound up detouring into my own posting history and discovered...I hadn't actually made a post of my own since March of last year-! An entire year and more has passed by, almost like that. It's somehow both so sudden and...so long ago. My relationship with time itself has often been a bit iffy as it is, so that was just...one more thing, putting it into perspective.

[a beat, looking askance for a moment.]

...That said, I thought it would be pertinent to sort of...reintroduce myself here, since there may be quite a lot here now whose acquaintances I've yet to make! [putting a hand to her chest.] My name is Lucina, and I'm one of the members of the Aegis Force, up here in Maurtia Falls. If you're in a pinch or looking for some help or answers, you can give me or any of the others a call. We try to be a resource to help you get your footing here safely just as much as we try to keep the streets safe for everyone here.

Speaking of which, since that...that flicker into another time and place...it's been markedly quiet, right? And I don't say that to try and jinx it, but rather, if...something new is brewing, I've not yet heard of it. I'd let you know if I did, as I surely hope you're comfortable doing so here if you catch wind of anything first, okay?

[a beat. she means to end it there, but a thought strikes her.]

Oh! And if you are new to this world or, or worlds like it...you need to know of some fall traditions besides all the costumes and candy! During the harvest season, there's places outside of the denser city areas with small mills, and they make their own confections called "cider mill donuts." It's not the same as the ones you can get downtown, I assure you -- they've got an entirely different character, I promise! It's very worth checking out. The apple cider, too.

[she shrugs, grinning a little.]

That said, I hope you're all doing well, and that you remain as such!

[genuine shock! genuine shock that bleeds into a troubled frown as she looks down and picks at the coat.] What do you mean? It's so colorful and bright...!

It looks like you got vomited on by a neon monster.

[ That... might have been more rude than she'd intended... ]

A... [a neon monster?!

:( ] That's a little extreme, isn't it? I mean, it's a pattern, not a smattering of colors...

[ Nope, not a good save. Shit. ]

Maybe I'm just not used to neon and that's what's happening.

[ Maybe a subject change was in order? ]

How have you been? I haven't seen you since the drinking party at my place.

[great. another outfit to second-guess. she knows she doesn't have the most refined of aesthetics, but she likes to think she makes decent calls now and then...!]

I--oh. I'm...[she nods, looking askance, still kind of hung up on Fashion Bad.] Well, considering what we've endured of late, I'd like to say things are better than they could be. Would you agree?

What is "Aegis Force", exactly? Is it like a hero team? [ he heard the name in passing, before ]

[while giving a small wave in passing -- hi Kaneki!!]

Mm, yes! Something like it. We try and build bridges between imPorts and native civilians while also making sure the streets are safe for both. And...since this world is prone to alarming shake-ups or threats, we have tried to improve ourselves so we could be ready to help in such events...

[her expression gets more distant and thoughtful.] That was one of the bigger reasons Jacob founded it. Protecting us all from the fates, trying to stop the world from being consumed...That's why I signed on at first, too.

[anthropophagite]

[ he will wave back and absolutely not say a word about that coat ]

Keeping everyone safe, then. [ he thinks that's very noble ] Is the government okay with it- I mean, you aren't like vigilantes, right? [ WELL are vigilantes even a thing anymore? They no longer have tattoos - Kaneki touches his arm, thinking about it for a moment. Will people even know who is registered or not? ] ... if that even matters anymore.

[fauxmarth]

[her head bobs to the side as she considers that.]

We've made it a goal to work in tandem with the local law enforcement and kept channels open with the government to collaborate wherever possible. It's not always been easy, but...we still try.

[anthropophagite]

[ that's probably for the best too. Kaneki understands why some people would be wary of the government but... well, this is their country in the end. Even if imPorts end up here on accident, it's important to all work together in his opinion ]

I think that's very noble. This way imPorts can offer their abilities to the people who need it. Jacob-san, is he the one who runs it?

[fauxmarth]

He founded it. [she nods, her smile a bit sad for a moment.] Right now, Ashley Williams leads with Darin's support. Those of us still around will keep trying our best to help everyone.

I...I do. [her smile starts to wane.] It...wasn't good. Jaime.

But... You don't...remember that. Do you?

[ He's trying to be tactful, out of deference to her being a teammate. But so help him Lucina, if you set it down unattended anywhere around Aegis, he's going to set it on fire. ]

It does, doesn't it? [she smiles down at her shoulder for a moment.] I think it just screams vibrancy! I get a lot of looks when I wear this one.

[redcosmedic]

[ deadpan: ] Of that I have no doubt.

[ Look, he doesn't do clothes but he does do aesthetics, and this one is definitely not working. ]

You don't think it might be taken as distracting?

[fauxmarth]

Distracting? From what?

[a beat.]

...Perhaps from someone's woes? It is quite cheerful...

Not quite what I had in mind... think of a team jersey. Those are typically limited to only a few colours, correct? Not... that.

[ Oh dross, he'll just go full salesmech on this. What the hell, what's he got to lose? ]

Because humans identify better with more limited palettes, you see. Mhm.

[ Say this for him: Luther's hesitating less and less these days before letting himself toggle the camera button on his communicator, letting other people see him on video. Lucina's already seen him in-person plenty and even hammered on him, so he's less self-conscious around her. This time, he sounds a little wry: ]

I'm pretty sure you must've just jinxed it, though.

[despite him being a Debbie Downer, Lucina has a little wave for him.]

Don't say that! Otherwise you'll make it sound like we're never allowed to acknowledge the peaceful times. That's no good, is it?

[ And he even gives a little wave back, along with a faint smile. He knows how he sounds, ok. ]

Yeah, we can acknowledge them. But we should also be ready for them to inevitably blow up in our face right when we start getting too comfortable. Stay on our toes, just in case.


Are cider mill donuts made with actual cider?

[she wears a kind of expression that reads as yeah, yeah...she knows he's right, but it's no fun talking about it right now! she's trying to be high-spirited, Luther! this is an effort!!

she huffs a small sigh, her mouth quirking up on one side when he himself steers the talk back to nicer things.]

I'm not actually sure...that is, whether it's a matter of their location being why they're called that, or if the ingredients are included. I never thought to ask, actually.

[ And he gets a distant, distracted look on his face, while he's obviously glancing at something off-screen as he looks this up to know for certain. Isn't it so great having information at your fingertips instead of having to bust out an almanac every time?? ]

Oh wow, yeah, apparently the batter is flavoured with concentrated apple cider. That sounds delicious.

[ Luther's brow crinkles, still reading the tourist page he's landed on, before he adds thoughtfully: ]

Have you ever gone apple-picking? Sounds like that's a pretty popular thing around the mills in the autumn, too.
