003 - [Voice/Video; Forward Dated to 12/24]
[Today has been a pretty lucrative day, for Ochako! After waking up and having breakfast, she actually skipped her morning workout and training on the beach for entirely different. Much like a smaller, much cuter version of ye olde Kris Kringle himself, Ochako is out delivering gifts to her friends and teachers. Carrying a big bundle of goodies is no issue with her quirk, either. Tucking each wrapped gift into as large a travel bag as she could find, Ochako give it a little tap with one hand and it becomes light as a feather.
She out for nearly the entire day, if only because so many of her precious U.A. family are in other Gate cities, and even foot traffic during the final day before Christmas is an absolute nightmare, but Ochako finishes just before tea time (about 3pm) and looks tired...but happy. Time to curl up for the rest of the day with some hot tea, a few of her favorite Christmas hymns and carols, and relax a bit.
In fact, she pulls out her communicator as she gets close to her house in Heropa, shedding some of the thicker garments for those colder states she had to visit on her outing, and flicks on the camera to address the network.]
Hello, everyone!! Merry Christmas! Did you all get what you wanted? Ehehe... Anyway, what are some of your favorite caro--...eh?
[Please excuse her, there's something...at her doorstep. It's a large cloth bag that's, hrm...addressed to her? Ochako blinks, looking around curiously as her hair whips about, then goes to pick up the bag--] Ah! Heavy...okay, here we go--up!
[Another quick activation of her quirk, and she's tugging the bag easily along behind her, fumbling with her keys and her communicator.] Sorry...someone left me something. Um...th-thank you to whoever it was, if you're viewing this! That was very kind of you, though there isn't any name or anything...um. Just a minute, I'll open it now...
[Doot doot, she sets everything down then unzips the large clothe bag, turning the note over with a thoughtful hum and furrowed brows. Thanks? Who in the world--] Oh, these are cu--
[The rest of that sentence is cut short by the tearing of gift paper and a very audible gasp. There's silence a good long, long moment after before sudden movement, a box popping open, a squeak of surprise and a barely muffled sob.]
O-Oh my gosh...oh my GOSH!!! I-IT'S SO...IT'S... I CAN'T-- [Ochako flicks on the video, to show off a large box with a picture of a gorgeous telescope on the back, which is open at the top.] WH-WHO...WHO GOT ME THIS?! I-I'M SO...I'M--
[Is she crying? Yes. Ochako has wanted a telescope since she was seven - a few years after her Zero Gravity quirk manifested and she learned to really and truly love space and astronomy. Of course she never got one, because they're expensive, and she's never had that sort of money to spend, but...who in the world? Did she ever even tell anyone about this? She can't remember, Ochako is too fucking emotional right now. She may also be hyperventilating. This is like a dream come true.]
Th-This is...I'm s-so...! I-I...ah...hahaHAHAHA...haaah. [And, like that, she just. Cackles. Having lost her absolute mind before falling over backwards.
K.O.]

You're welcome, but I would send someone else to do it for me. Never myself.
no subject
tbh i'd prefer if it was u
ne1 else and i'd feel more threatened...
also don't be lazy it doesn't suit u
no subject
[Because at least he's not such a bad room mate sometimes.]
They have no reason to threaten you. Toga is in love with you, Dabi doesn't care about this place and Twice wouldn't hurt anyone who doesn't go after us first.

i'm putting snow down ur shirt next time i see u anywhere but heropa
[Or and ice cu--...OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Ochako's face turns sour the moment she reads that next part, about Toga, and she has half a mind to say something about it...but has to bite her tongue. Though she may have gagged loudly and overdramatically at her phone screen. Thank god for text.]
ok...so what's your excuse?
don't want to see me yourself??
💔💔💔

I'm the leader. My excuse is that I'm so busy all the time I can't do everything myself.
[He says while very much just relaxing and texting at the moment.]

[And to the next thing? Ochako just sends a gif. That should get the point across well enough.]

neway, i'm gonna go prep dinner and play w/ my telescope after.

tomura
[Man, that's going to take some getting used to, but...it's nice.]
lmk ur schedule so we can meet again.
i'm looking forward to it

This is where I say Merry Christmas back, right? That's the expected response. I typed it up there, so just do me the favour of backtracking to keep me from having to repeat myself.
January 9th, or contact me. Being a responsible part of society is tiring lol.
Good night. Enjoy your stars.
[Audio - still hella locked]
...Ochako looks around the house, as if expecting someone to be watching, and clears her throat before turning on the audio.]
Sorry, you can still text me, but it's easier for me to respond this way while I cook. You...um. [She's pulling out things from the fridge and pantry, putting her communicator to her shoulder and cheek.] Y-You said you watched me at...a-at the Sports Festival?
[Ochako pauses, and there's a thoughtful hum, tinged with nerves, and it's evident in how her voice shakes, tone getting soft.] H-How was it? Me. I-I mean...what did you think?
Text; Locked
Of course I did. UA hands villains your weaknesses on a silver platter on TV for all of us to see. If they think it scares us, it doesn't, it only gave me the tools I needed.
I think you're quick, but not quicker than him. You used head on attacks to break up the concrete which was good but you weren't wearing him down you were warming him up. I think you're smart but he got lucky and anticipated your quirk and its uses. Overall I think you did well but Bakugo needs to be worn down or caught off guard for any counter measures to work. That was your first time fighting him?
no subject
Not going to comment on that. Just...not. It's not what she asked.]
...It was, yeah. I did everything I could, and I was way worse at fighting back then. I'm really glad he took me seriously, even at my worst, but...it was a really poor match up. I was completely overpowered.
I had hoped that last attack would have at least done...I don't know. Something...but it was pointless. [She sighs. Ochako still beats herself up over that fight a lot. She did her best, but she couldn't even...couldn't even get in one hit on him. Not one. And he blew back her super move like it was nothing (though she had no idea he really had to push his limits to do it, and had he not...she may have actually won).] I'm not upset he beat me, though. Not really.
no subject
Don't cut yourself.
You need to make him come to you, you can't rush Bakugo head on. The match up was poor just as much as Hanta and Todoroki. Though, Todoroki isn't all that intimidating, any of them. He could've taken him, too. The last attack did do something and if you hadn't worn yourself out you'd have won. It was frustrating.
Alright. In the new year, we'll go back to that desert and I'll show you when you have at least a week off school. You won't win, but Bakugo wouldn't win against me either.
no subject
Or forgive.
Her lips do, however, pull up as she continues to read over his text, and there's a quiet chuckle in between the sounds of her cooking - the click of the stovetop, the sizzle of a pan... Seems like they had the same idea, and that actually gets Ochako to grin a bit.]
Yeah, you're right. I've sparred with Bakugou-kun here, and that's exactly what I did. I'm still not at great in a hand-to-hand fight against him, but I know a few tricks. I was able to pin him, but...it wasn't really a fair fight that time.
[He was tired, so not at the top of his game. Ochako sighs a bit. She misses sparring with Kats--...wait. Wait what. What is she reading.}
Haah?! [She snatches up her communicator. Please hold, Ochako is staring down at the text like it's some foreign language. But. No...no, she's reading that right.] You--...y-you actually want to spar with me?!
no subject
No. I'm going to teach you to fight, I don't spar. You don't learn anything from sparring. If you take me up on this, I won't hesitate to break any one of your bones you leave exposed. It's why I said you need time off. I'll avoid decaying you or killing you, but that's all I have to offer.
Think it over.
Enjoy your dinner.

Which is what Ochako feels Shigaraki is...trying??? To do?????
Honestly, after reading that, she's not certain anymore. While it would be great to fight Shigaraki - if he's really aiming to help her improve her fighting skills - she's still not...quite sure if she trusts him that much. Fighting him on equal ground would prepare her considerably for what is yet to come, and that's something Ochako really needs to learn, but...he's still a villain. He's still a very, very, very powerful villain. She knows very well he's being absolutely serious about breaking her bones.
She leaves him on read up until after dinner is made, calling for Momo to come down and eat. Before she arrives, and they begin their meal, Ochako glances back at her phone and finally responds. This time, with a text back.]
if i was afraid of breaking my bones, i never would have stepped foot onto that platform against Bakugou-kun.
but ur right...i need to think abt it.
i kinda just wanna hang out w/ u first tho...before i make any big decisions like that
is that ok??
no subject
Take your time.
I'm assuming part of your thinking is going to be that I'll be upset if you say no. I won't.
no subject
but no, it's not that...
if i can be honest, i'm honored u even want to bother with sum1 like me.
but i'm still afraid of u too. fighting u, i mean...
[Because he's right. He would absolutely crush her. Ochako isn't even going to pretend he wouldn't. And it's hard to get the idea that he wouldn't break his word and not use his quirk on her. It's that bias, that distrust, that still keeps Ochako's hand on the proverbial trigger at all times, even if her grip has loosened considerably over time.]

We can talk about it when it's not supposed to be a joyous day of whatever Americans want to tell us it's about depending on the holiday sales and retail radio.
no subject
i know.
thank you, tomura
[For giving her the choice, first and foremost, but also for taking note of her enough to ask to fight. Even if he doesn't think there's a reason for her to feel honored, Ochako does. Like Bakugou was back at the Sports Festival, Shigaraki is leagues (no pun intended) stronger than she is. There's that immense divide in their strength that she never thought anyone on the other side would see her closely enough. Or care to even look. For the same reason Ochako is thankful of Bakugou for treating her fairly during their fight, she's extending that same gratitude to Shigaraki.]
lol!!
and a happy new year to u mr. grinch
but for real now...i'll talk to u later ok? and think abt what u said.
good night. 💖
