[ luckily, Teresa's been here for a little longer than a day, managed to find her new apartment, read through some of the file she was given, and looked into the where and when and how of this place as much as she could. it wasn't much, she's kind of- not- completely, mentally focused right now, but if the information is there, she's not about to put off getting her hands on it. so she's been debriefed, and she's looked into things on her own, and she-

still feels completely blindsided by everything that's happened since she woke up here.

and it's entirely because she woke up at all.

instead she turns to the communication device she was given, now that she's cleaned herself up and isn't feeling completely overwhelmed. yes. right! she can handle this. time to do some info gathering. bring on all the info. ]

Hi. [ solid start, really nailed it. ] My name is Teresa, I'm new here. I'm a new imPort, I guess they call it, right? [ okay, she's not really the type to play dumb to get some answers, but maybe she's still feeling a little off. like she doesn't trust herself to be as capable to handle everything on her own as she might normally be. ] To be honest, I'm questioning the timing of this place more than anything else I've heard so far, and I was wondering if there is any rhyme or reason to it? Unless it doesn't matter much at all. Which I guess is possible. But are we ever really told why? Color me curious.

[ curious and freaked out and unable to accept that this place just brought her back to life and gave her this power for nothing. ..which reminds her. ]

Oh, and - [ she reaches for something out of frame, then pulls back to hold up a door knob. woop. ] - apologies to my new housemates, seriously. But I sort of- broke. this. I'm still getting used to my new abilities. I'm not leaving the house until it's fixed, of course, but I was wondering if there's somebody that usually takes care of these kinds of things, or what. [ says the girl that didn't grow up in a place that would need to call someone about a broken doorknob ( and not just because a lot of their doors didn't even have knobs ), so she doesn't really know there's probably a repair man in the phonebook. ah. she'll be embarrassed about this later, probably. more embarrassed. ]

I can think of about three people in this whole bloody place that have heard of those. How long have you been here, Teresa?

Fun truths the government won't tell you: the Porters are kind of glitchy. So there's not really any reason or rhyme to this whole shebang, they can't actually control who they pull here. Sucks, right?

[ the mental whiplash Teresa goes through from seeing his face on screen, to realizing that he is definitely not Thomas, is enough to make her look- kind of mad, for a second, before smooths out the expression into something less, um, accusatory. it's very possible that WICKED would clone Thomas, but that- it doesn't make sense, in context. but she's definitely already taken way too long to respond ]

[ a few million things run through thomnas's head at once, from the moment he gets newt's text with 'your girlfriend's here', to the confirmation his suspicions - teresa's face popping up on the screen of his phone, voice just how he remembers it, eyes just as bright. it's an immense relief to see her here, alive, well, at all, given newt and minho had told him that she'd gone missing from where newt was - where thomas didn't get to yet.

his head is buzzing with things he wants to say to her. excitement for having her around, concern for what might have been done to her, fear for the ones still left in their world, his own doubts about himself and about this place. all that really comes out, though... ]

[ she doesn't quite sound like she's gotten the wind knocked out of her, but she's a little overwhelmed, yeah. his face was the last she'd seen before- well, the last she'd seen of anything, really. and now here he is on her little screen, totally okay. not covered in dust and dirt and blood, not looking at her like she was the most tragic sight in the world. it was a lot to take in! but eventually she's smiling, relieved. probably too relieved, since she isn't there with him, face to face, where she can let herself fully believe that he's okay ]

[After seeing the transmission, Kay decides to give the newcomer a proper greeting. She heads downstairs to where Teresa and the broken doorknob are, not at all angry or appalled or irritated or exasperated. Instead, the teenager is quite cheerful...and has a crow perched on each shoulder.]

Hi, Teresa! I'm Kay Faraday, one of your new housemates...and y'know, it could've been worse than a broken doorknob. [REAL HELPFUL.] We'll get it fixed!

Apparently it's "random". Random and doesn't care if the person is alive or dead, which makes from some weird reunions if, you know, you're dead.

Elphaba and Glinda like to talk about it often enough, though I have to wonder which one that would make you. [ she not only already knows it isn't about the musical, but what she really means. but that doesn't mean she's going to stop making the joke. ] "The Flare" is a new one.

For the timing to be worth questioning, it would have to be consistent. In your case, perhaps it's simply the most appropriate time she thought to introduce you from. But to correct any misconceptions that you might have formed already from information provided, I have two additions to information you've received already.

The first is that it isn't a glitch. They call it a glitch because their operators don't know a thing about the porter, so its regular operations are considered malfunctions. Don't believe any official statement about the Porter, they know probably less than you do about it. [ she counts off on her fingers, bringing her to two. ] Second, the nanites in your bloodstream are entirely unrelated to the powers you were brought in with. They are, again, an augmentation added by the government to account for their utter ignorance of anything going on.
