[the video opens to the sound of the Thanksgiving dog show in the background and Jonathan settled contentedly on the couch, clad inexplicably in a turtleneck featuring the four Pac-Man ghosts. he smiles cheerfully.]

This isn't my holiday, but I hope that everyone who celebrates has been having a good time. I'm not entirely certain what purebred dogs have to do with being thankful, but I'm certainly grateful for the opportunity to watch them.

I never realized that dogs would be among the things that had changed in the future, but I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise. People are always looking to improve their breed however they can.

Perhaps it's a bit childish, but owning a dog again is one of the things I'm looking forward to most when I finally feel able to leave the government housing. It's been a while since I've had a pet.

[he scratches his cheek, the smile becoming a tad nostalgic for a moment of two. the television announces the start of judging for the hound group and he shakes himself out of it easily with a roll of the shoulders.]

Ah, but I hadn't meant to simply chatter away about inanities! I've been thinking about this for a bit, and I wanted to ask someone who was more experienced in the matter - how does finishing one's education work here?

There's no way I could prove my qualifications, after all, but I'd like to finally graduate if at all possible. It's the principle of the thing.

[finally completing his degree feels kind of like a symbolic closing of the worst chapter of his life, even if in Heropa that wasn't technically true. and it would give him a little more confidence in perhaps looking for a job actually related to his field of interest.]

Not everyone is as strong as you.

I'm not exceptionally strong. I just do what I feel is right.

[there's a difference. if Jonathan was as strong as he'd like to be, he could have prevented the suffering of so many people close to him.]

It's simply the truth. There's a great deal of growing that I still have to do.

[more like rather large for a normal human being what the hell Jonathan. he chuckles lightly, obviously joking.]

Rather large is an understatement.

[he'd say that some of his family is of a similar size, but even Joseph isn't as bulky as he is. so he just smiles a little sheepishly]

I don't even really notice anymore, to be perfectly honest! Although I do have to be careful with doorways.

I'm sure the doorways try to be just as careful with you. But it's perfectly all right letting your size get the better of your surroundings.

I'd be very impressed if I managed that with inanimate objects.

Makes me wonder about the animated ones. You don't seem nearly that incompetent.

If there's a danger of my being hit with something like that, it's likely a much different situation. But I suppose that goes without saying.

What sort of situations do you usually find yourself in?

For that sort of thing? Nothing particularly pleasant.

[aka fighting vampires and zombies as glossed over by a gentleman who doesn't think that sort of thing should really be in general conversation unless further prompted. it feels too much like like bragging - as if them being supernatural made any difference?]

[In general fighting, it doesn't always have to be with vampires and zombies, you know. You could maybe learn to like it.]

I enjoy a bout between friends, but it's not something that I've had much of lately.

[he really loved boxing and even the training spars between Zeppeli that were honestly more Jonathan getting his ass kicked in an educational manner. but aside from that go-round with Killua recently, it's mostly just been defending people from serious danger.]

Well I think I'd really like to give you some if you'd have me.

[Boxing? He can box. Dirty boxing. But he likes to throw around his fists a bit.]

[this has BAD IDEA written all over it in loud obnoxious letters, but Jonathan just sort of disregards it. if Hisoka is really in jail this won't be happening for some time anyway, and it's good to know even a little about what he's capable of should Jonathan prove to once again be a naive gullible sap.]
