my roommate does a lot of sewing and clothes stuff - kanaya. she might know? not that i'm volunteering her to do it or anything. she already does enough with clothes for me and newt.

by the way, did stiles fill you in on how the file leak case turned out?

No I didn't think to ask. What happened?

we got a set of suspects. turns out it was this guy, Walter Mayhew. he was having an affair with someone who had access to tech that could scramble his source and send out the files anon, and was in a high enough government position to have clearance to access the files. sierra thorpe got the evidence from her and his stuff, and then he caved under it and confessed. what he said:

"I've worked for this government for years. I've put more blood, sweat, and tears into this than half the people at the damn department! And what do I get in return? Absolutely nothing. [ pause ] They promoted that new kid over me. That little snot-nosed twenty-something. He doesn't care about this place! He doesn't give a damn about America! So sue me if I tied my horse to someone who actually recognizes my accomplishments for what they are. And so what if I used Waterhouse [ woman he was having an affair with ] to release those files, this is the government. We use people and then forget about 'em on a daily basis. Yeah, I did it. I sold those imPorts out. And I'd do it again if I had the chance. At least my new employer recognizes me for the asset that I am." [ #eidectic memory ]

we know it wasn't the hornets he was working for, but after that it dead ended. he was arrested and he'll have a trial soon.

that's the understanding. beyond that, we've got nothing.

Any guesses as to who the employer might be? If someone's trying to paint a target on my back—and yes, it is mine personally, all things considered—I'd like to know who. Even if it's still just speculation.

i'd been banking on hornets, after what they said in castle rock, in the maze. anything more than that is just guesses and hunches.

it doesn't really feel like a soviet play to me.

i've been kinda thinking, though, about liam lawson - one of the missing heroes. just speculation, but i think he's more involved in this than just being mysteriously absent. tied to the hornets, but maybe not operating as one of them.

maybe. or maybe never mentioned the hornets.

i don't know. i just feel like he's important. in a bad way.

The more I hear about these missing heroes, the more I wonder if we'd all just be better off if they'd stayed gone.

probably. at least from what i've found from lawson, and a couple of the others, after the 2008 incident, that had some pretty heavy issue with the government

i don't know what they makes targeting imports relevant, but i guess all we can do right now is wait until something else comes up

I hate waiting for something to happen. I wish there was some way we could draw them out.

you and me both. i dunno, it's hard to think of something when we don't really know what they want.

i heard annie and some people were looking into lawson's family. if i can get close to them, i might be able to listen in. [ on their brains ]

yep. [ awk. ] i don't like to do it, but this is important. we need to know if he's connected to this, and the hornets. it could save lives, if they attack again.
