[ after several long talks with Kitty, Loki and Kanaya, Thomas finally feels like he's scoured as much of what's available on the network to him as he can, and picked the brains of the people around him who would let him.
Well, figuratively picked their brains. He could literally dig around in their minds, given that his telepathy has gotten better recently, but that's pretty rude, tbh. Only going to do that to people he doesn't like, and even then, only if he thinks he needs to. But either way, he has something that's actually presentable, and in a kind of organization that people outside of him (and Teresa) alone could actually be able to comprehend. So now it's show and tell time. ]
i know there's been a few posts like this already, so it's probably old news to most of you here, but i'm mostly wanting to get my notes double checked. though, if you're new, this might answer some questions you have.
[ he'll be attaching his universe/porter/all things everywhere notes page here, so people can look it over, either to get themselves up to speed on what this place is and what's going on, or for people who've been here longer to review what he has and let him know if something's off. ]
that's all I got so far. i'm mostly looking for stuff on the porter and how the universes and travel between them works. anyone see something i'm missing or something i got wrong? or just got rude commentary you wanna make? minho's not invited. [ he smells. also, this is thomas's mild way of saying 'i want all the information on lachesis and the porter i can possibly acquire tyvm'. if you read between the lines. ] anyway, loki's story about the sudiczki sisters was pretty obviously lacking. i'm gonna be heading out to check if there's anything i can dig up about lana, or the other two. so if anyone needs me, i'll be out of heropa the next few days.
anyone at Xavier's willing to let me borrow notes when i get back? [ he's not very good about caring if he's skipping school tbh. sry, professors. ]
{ VIDEO || PRIVATE - to Loki, Kitty, Stiles, the Gladers, Annie Leonhart, Heropa residence 001, Grey, Lydia and Kate Bishop; }
[ this part is done as a video, and Thomas has his Getting Things Done voice on, with his phone propped up against some books while his hand busies a pencil over a spiral folded open in front of him, various travel brochures for Nonah and De Chima spread around his desk. ]
I know everyone hit deadends when they looked into this earlier, but unless it was Emma out there with them, I don't think they worked the telepath angle on it. [ aka Thomas is going to go pry into some peoples' heads and he'd like you to come with him. ] I'm heading to Nonah for a few days, then De Chima after.
It'd be cool to have some of you guys with, if you're not busy. You know. In case I piss some shank off and need to get sprung from the Slammer.
[ doesn't actually sound like a joke. Look, he spent enough time in the Glade's Slammer to know he doesn't have the best luck with this stuff. ]

[ you're a peach, boo, but tact is not your strong suit. neither is it thomas's, but he mostly gets his way through loki conversations by virtue of actualyl wanting to hear him ramble about stuff. and maybe also he likes him some. w/e. you can't prove anything. ]
Your world isn't like most copies of Earth people came from here, so I don't know if you had old mythology. [ to be honest, thomas didn't know half what he should. when he lived in the world, he'd only been four before wicked took him, and when he was with them, they stocked his head full of sciences, logic, survival, problem solving, technical skills. mythology wasn't a big subject, and given he hardly remembers much of the stuff that wasn't just innate, there wasn't much to go from. so he did a lot of scouring the internet, asking a gross amount of questions on forums, and pestering friends with questions. ] Back towards the first millenium or so of humanity, there were a lot of polytheistic pantheons - large sets of gods and divine beings - that cultures worshipped to explain natural phenomenon, like life and the sun rising and falling, etcetra.
A lot, historically, borrowed from others, or the ones directly before them, or evolved from basic ideas. That's the natural explanation for it, but some people look at different cultures, completely separated, coming up with the same idea around the same time. I dunno how much stock you can put in that, but I'm thinking that's what Loki means when he talks about 'resonance'.
The Fates are a theme you see repeated a lot - usually three of them, often women, often having power over even the major gods in the pantheon. 'Lachesis, Atropos and Clotho' come from the Greek pantheon. The Greek term for them was Moirai. There mythological stories sort of come in grand metaphors, and for the Moirai, it was all about lives of mortals being 'threads', and the Moirai drawing, measuring and cutting them. Clotho, the spinner, would spin the threads, Lachesis, allotter, drew and measured the thread of life for each person, and Atropos, unturning, would cut the threads, deciding the time and manner of each person's death.
Sort of fits, with how they worked in the City, before here.
But the pattern echoes in a lot of the other pantheons, and gets referenced a lot here - Roman, with the cities. The Roman names for the same Fates were Nona, Decima, and Morta, like Nonah, De Chima and Maurtia Falls. A lot of things come in threes, not just here, but in Earth's old religions, and new, as well. In the more majorly present monotheistic religion in modern Earth, there's still a 'holy trinity'.
So that's what we're looking for. The pattern repeating, and what it leads to, or suggests. What resonates.
[ loki, you should be proud of him for this speech ]

These sisters, and these cities - they all existed before Lachesis made contact. So it's not them imitating her, and she existed in the other dimension independent of what's going on here, so it's not her imitating them, either. Resonance, then.
[ She sits back. ]
I've actually been thinking. Isn't it odd how all the parallel dimensions...You'd expect them to be more different than this, wouldn't you? But it seems like every parallel dimension is populated by humans, isn't it? Not the aliens you'd expect if things were completely separate. Most of them have our languages, English and Latin and Czech and all the others. A lot of them have got Egypt in their history, a lot of them had the same people. Julius Caesar was great in almost every world. I just have got to wonder if all of these worlds didn't start at a single source and then just...branch off.

[ he listens to that part, chewing at his lower lip and she goes on. ]
Honestly, just the fact we have a single set of people from differing dimensions proves the multiversal theory, and that'd mean there are... infinite possibilities for worlds, and versions of them. even simple things, like the sky is purple instead of blue, and all else is identical. Or maybe just one choice by one person changed.
If we're going on hypothesises, I'd lean towards the idea that the selection we've got here? Not even a grain of sand in the ocean of possible universes. It could be that she found one sort of 'source' world, or template, and liked it enough to pull a lot from. Given we've got so many. Or maybe it was just easier, that way.

Hold on a second.
[ he puts the call on hold for a few minutes, and goes to seek out a computer to do some fast research. when he picks up again, he's texting her these links: Multiversal theories, Membrane/M-theory. ]
If the varying, similar universes have some of the same particles 'vibrating' between them, maybe that's enough of a connection to make travel between them easier. If you want to attribute that to the same kind of 'resonance' or whatever. Or if membranes are rippling and collide, to form another, maybe that makes a temporary kind of 'bridge'?
Honestly, it's all just guess work. It could be something totally different.

[ She doesn't want to keep him waiting too long, so she gives it a quick skim. A few minutes later, she comes back with: ]
That does make sense, though. My own world has one other with a close affinity - the Other Place, the world of demons. I could have traveled to there from my home, but from here, I can't. And we can't access any of the other worlds, either. So that's two worlds that are closely linked together, with no real link to other worlds.

Then again, what do I know, I only got a couple months worth of memory. [ not long enough to be a physics expert. though he pretty much was before that memory wipe happened. ]

Yeah, it's a little bit late to pretend that you're not ridiculously arrogant about how clever you are.

[ but no, he's totally arrogant about it, sry not sry ]
