[He sounds downtrodden, words wilting with his posture. Sniffling again, he continues on weakly.]

I guess I've been gone a few weeks. I didn't mean to, I'm sorry. I really wanted to stay. This would have been my first Christmas with friends.

[Another sniffle though this one's scrunched up and breathed in. He's steeling himself. As much as he can.] But since I wasn't here I want to know about everything that happened! [Within the next minute he's slapping something firmly, leaning closer to the microphone so that it crackles slightly when he speaks.] Tell me about all the Christmases I missed!

[Maybe then he can live vicariously through everyone else.]

Hm... On the 24th, Kate invited me to her Hanukkah party. It was sort of like Christmas, I think. But for Christmas, I hung out with Jaime and his friend Brenda.

There was a lot of really good food!

Well, we could always have a belated celebration? Might not manage so many people if they're back to work by now but we could try something. Killua missed you and stayed with us for a bit. I'm sure we could figure something out so you're not missing out.

[Poor kid really does sound so upset about this. Brenda can hardly imagine the idea of being without holidays since they're all over back home and everything. So she wants to try share that with those who missed out. Gon evidently being one of them.]

Killua told me about that! He said you and Jaime let him eat with you guys. [There's a muffled sniff as he rubs at his nose.] I wanted to thank you for it! It'd be sad if he had to spend the holiday alone. I think it's his first Christmas away from his family too.

[He sounds a bit more chipper and that only increases after a brief, excited pause.] ... You really think we could have another party?

Ah, you've returned! [Jonathan sounds elated - not just for himself, but for Killua as well. this must be a huge weight off his shoulders.]

But I think that you may have to look for exciting Christmas tales elsewhere. Mine was rather sedate.

I'm back! [He tries to laugh but it gets caught on a sob. Kind of ruins the effect.]

Christmases don't have to be exciting. I always have quiet Christmases with Ms. Mito. It's usually only the two of us. I want to hear about it, Jonathan!

You've been gone? As in, you returned home and came back again? ( She's heard of it happening before, but it hasn't happened to anyone she knows personally. )

It was just another Christmas. Boring, really.

Yeah... It was only a second there, though. I didn't think I'd be gone two weeks.

[All the stuff he missed. And don't think he'll let you get away with that lame answer, Franziska! He smacks the table in protest.]

[ she doesn't have much to really tell about her christmas. she gave a lot of gifts, and got a few back as well. she doesn't see anything unreasonable about giving one more. ]

[A beat.] I didn't know you were at the party too! Do you celebrate Hanukkah too?
