[When the broadcast begins, the young man onscreen (sporting a perfect pompadour with not a single strand of hair out of place) tucks away a comb and reclines upon the front step of one of the government houses, presumably the one he's been assigned. He seems to consider for half a second more what he's going to say, one eyebrow cocking upwards, a strong indication that there's a question brewing, while his lips pucker in a vague showing of frustration.]
Alright...
[Here we go.]
So, I'm digging all the free stuff that people seem to wanna hand out in exchange for photographs with us and whatever, and the hoverboards are really, really awesome. That said, I might actually like these new phones even better, though? They're pretty great! Slim, stylish, lightweight...pocket size. Anyway, all that's nice, but something's been bothering me and I've gotta ask...
What the actual fuck is up with these glow-in-the-dark tattoos?
[His jaw sets stubbornly, blue eyes fixating on something that lies out of view of the camera. Probably the tattoo in question.]
I mean I know what they're for, or what we're being told they're for, but like...
Shit, is this even legal?
[Actually, he's a hell of a lot more concerned with the fact that he wasn't even asked if something could be done to his body, especially as he can't fix it. Talk about invasive. Makes a guy wonder what else was done without his knowing.]
And on that note...I'm kind of curious about this whole registration deal! Anyone got a solid argument for it or against it? 'Cause right now I'm right in the middle and uh...from what I hear, that means my roommates can put me out?
What kind of asshole would do that, though?
Anyway, that's it. That's all I gotta say!
[He reaches forward as if to turn the device off but stops.]
Oh, and the name's Josuke! [Best to get it out now so he's not repeating it a hundred times later.] Josuke Higashikata!

video | MUCH BETTER
[Fuck those guys. She's had enough of them
definitely isn't hanging out with one right now eitherThe point is, people aren't allowed to be cruel to her Josuke, or abandon him or anything like that. It's Not Allowed.]...Anyway, you're right, my dad's here too. Kinda. He didn't remember me, either. I guess that's why I lost my temper about it... he just...
[...ugh.]
Are you friends with him or something?
video | /POSES!
You can kinda say that, yeah. I mean, it's not like he remembered me, either, but back in Morioh he showed up helped me through a lot. He's the one who told me about Joseph being my old man, in fact.
[Of course, Jotaro never did say much about the rest of the family at the time.
Which sucks because...it woulda been nice knowing he had a niece a bit sooner.]
video | /POSES WITH BECAUSE IT'S JUST WHAT'S DONE
Hm...
[...then she switches to private. Because this is family stuff, get out.]
He doesn't remember anyone. Except Joseph, but from a lot later on, obviously... He hasn't even met my mother yet, so you can imagine how that meeting must have been for us.
[Or maybe he can't. It doesn't seem like the side of Jotaro that she knows best is one Josuke's even aware of. ...still not gonna get into the details of that JUST YET though.]
When you say he helped you... did you guys fight together? You have a Stand, right? Like the rest of us.
video | PRIVATE
[Because his old man hasn't met his mother yet, either. So he knows exactly how awkward that must have been for Jolyne.
...well, mostly. Joseph's definitely more of a ladies man, so it's expected. Jotaro, on the other hand...okay, picturing him settling down at all is a bit strange, not gonna lie.
Anyway, anyway.]
Yeah, he was around in Morioh for about a year helping out with...you know about the Arrows? Well, there were a couple that showed up in town and there were a lot of problems because of 'em.
[To say the very least.
Scrubbing his face for a sec and then...a small grin.]
I got a Stand, yeah. Crazy Diamond.
[And with a thumbing gesture over his shoulder he calls it out for her to see. Never mind HE'S in public still, right outside his house.]
video | PRIVATE
Josuke! Put it away! You're out in the open! Jeez, you're almost as bad as Joseph... when I got here he was telling everyone about it like it was no big deal!
[GOD EVERYONE IS SO CARELESS. But the other side of it is... it's a pretty cool Stand. And since Jolyne herself is currently alone in her room, she calls her own, which promptly drapes an arm around her neck and shoulders.]
Here... her name's Stone Free. I got it because of one of those arrows you mentioned, actually. My dad must have hung onto a piece of one after he was in Morioh with you... He saved it in case I ever got into trouble.
[Which she did.]
[And now shes going to ask a question she already knows the answer to.]
...He didn't mention us when he was there, did he? Me or my mom.
video | PRIVATE
And it seems fair to have Crazy Diamond out when Jolyne brings out Stone Free—who looks pretty incredible, actually, and Josuke's expression says as much!
Though it relaxes a little when Jolyne goes on to tell him about how she got her Stand. He'd thought the family just...developed them. So this is news to him. But he can ask her more about it later, because for now...
Answering her question. Which is...a bit awkward to answer.]
You know, there really wasn't... [Nah, she deserves a straight answer before the excuse.] I'm sorry, but he didn't.
There was a lot going on, though. I mean...apparently part of the reason he showed up was to sort out inheritance stuff on Joseph's behalf, so he was probably pretty pissed off for a while which...I can't imagine made him wanna talk much about the family tree. And it's not like he talked much about anyone besides my old man even after that.
There wasn't a lot of time to sit down and have those kinda talks, I guess. Which...sucks. I woulda really liked knowing I had a niece.
[And that's about when he calls back his Stand.]
video | PRIVATE
Josuke. You don't need to make excuses for him. I know he doesn't talk about stuff like that. I just asked so I'd know what he was up to over there.
[Well... more confirmation that he wasn't breaking habit, at least. And she's not totally sure how she feels about the answer, but there's no point in getting worked up about it now.]
Just like I don't really know what happened while he was there, but my guess is... he knew those 'problems' would be dangerous, especially if they had something to do with the arrows. It wasn't important to mention. But also, in case something went wrong, that danger wouldn't find its way back to us.
He sucks at small talk, anyway. I don't know what he would have said about it.
[...]
I'm glad he could help you.
video | PRIVATE
But Josuke just nods in acceptance, keeping those thoughts to himself.
He doesn't wanna deal with family awkwardness. At least, not too much of it all at once. He's had more than his fair share as far as he's concerned. Can't they all just...get along? Make stupid jokes? Tease each other? Speaking of...]
There's something you should know about him, though. Something happens.
[God, he looks so serious for a second. Before...that face splits into a wide, shit-eating grin.]
...he gets his ass kicked by a rat.
video | PRIVATE
[She looks genuinely alarmed by that initial comment, and then...]
...what? No way! Are you kidding me?
[She half doesn't even believe him, but half does and really wants deets]
video | PRIVATE
[AHAHAHAHA JOLYNE THAT EXPRESSION IS PRICELESS THANKS]
...but it's true! There were these rats with Stands and we were hunting them and he got totally owned by the one he was going after.
Though, to be fair, they were pretty scary. Like...crazy smart. And huge.
