Okay, wait

[ A young woman has her arms crossed tight over her chest; arms flexed out and shoulders squared off with her feet kicked up on a dining room table in one of the registered housing units. Her bottom lip is pushed out in an impressive pout and with her posture taut as a bow string she looks fit to break the table she's reclining against. ]

Saving the world, maintaining peace - sure, uh huh. This all absolutely falls under my job description as the Ava- [ Her cheekbones flush red and she cocks her head with a sharp exhale, biting down the last word before it could come out in full. ] - Never mind. Not important.

But you know what is important? This totally killed my vacation.

[ Her eyes then look sidelong to something out of frame when a deep, labored panting that sounded like it was coming from a massive source.

She frowns and apologizes to whatever is breathing so heavily before leaning back into frame. ]

If this device whatever is so useful - can someone tell me where to get food for a two ton polar bear dog?

Last person I asked just said 'google it.'

As if I know what that means.

Excuse me... you said a "polar bear dog"? ... What kind of food does a polar bear dog eat? I'm assuming meat of some sort, probably?

I can help with googling, Korra. But I don't think that they'll have anything like that prepared here.

[They don't seem to have polar bear dogs, for one thing.]

If you think about it, it's really just "Vacation, Part Two."

Just a little unexpected detour.

[Polar bear dog? That sounds rad, she wants to see she wants to see--no, c'mon, play it cool Marceline.

The video's kind of dark, so Korra gets a look at what might just be taken as a fairly pale young woman.]

We're on the coast, right? Maybe you can work something out with a fish market. [beat.]

... Polar bear dog, though? [ttttrying to sound casual, but. dog. DOG. doooogs, giant fearsome monster bear dogs probably?? yes. yes. now she kind of misses her zombie poodle.]

[ She is steadily growing accustomed to stranger people with all sorts of reactions to either her or Naga. This wasn't her first rodeo.

All the same, that question just smacked of redundant to her. ]

Uh, yeah?

[ What's a google - who even cares about a google right now. ]

Asami!

[ Whatever storm clouds were hanging over her expression evaporated in an instant and she was beaming. Naga apparently caught on because no sooner had she said Asami's name there was a loud bark followed by a big white polar bear dog's head pushing into frame. ]

Oh, man. I was so worried about what happened to you when I showed up.

For what feels like the millionth time today, yes.

I know they're not exactly common in warmer climates but she's trained so what's the big deal?

Where I was heading was guaranteed to be strange, but this blows that right out of the water.

Haven't decided if I'm exactly okay with this detour or not, though.

[ Korra blinks slowly if just to take in all that pale. About everyone she's run across here all had unfamiliar and sometimes downright bizarre physical characteristics so she can deal with pale bordering on luminescent. ]

Hey, that's not a bad idea. [ Finally, decent advice. ] De Chima is close enough to the shore, right?

[ She nods. ]

Yeah, her name is Naga. Don't worry - she's trained.

[Her specifically? Other things aside, that does surprise her. It doesn't occur to her yet that she's missing something. A very large something, actually. After all, she's fairly certain that Korra had last been with Mako.]

Oh, I'm fine. I'm a little worried about being taken away from Republic City, but it seems that there's nothing to worry about on that front. At ... the moment, anyway. [She's read all the things people have put out there, even if she's still digesting it.]

[ There is a delay in the reply as Korra is tasked with pushing a slobbering, excitable polar bear dog off of her when Naga failed to grasp the concept that the sound of Asami's voice didn't mean she was actually in the room.

Korra has, of course, not caught on to the discrepancies in their recollections of past events. ]

Well, sure. I'm not thrilled to be away, either.

[ She laughed, but it wavered. There was a sense of unreality about it all, and the issue of the dull but none the less hard to ignore feeling of spiritual disquiet all gave her pause. Despite it all, she refused to consider this was permanent. And Asami was here, after all. Right where they left off, as far as she knew. ]

But with the groundwork for reconstruction all laid out thanks to you I'm sure Republic City will breathe easier for a while even without us.

—Reconstruction? [It's a sharper question than it might be otherwise, though the only pointedness to it is her surprise. Reconstruction isn't something she's unfamiliar with, after all, and she suspected it would be on the horizon. She had even begun to map out ideas of how to restore some of the structural integrity of Republic City once again if things went as badly as they could.

But ...]

Korra, I don't think we're quite at the point where my groundwork can even be handed over. I don't think President Raiko would appreciate that. [It'd be a bit pessimistic, too.]

[ Korra bridled at the comment like she couldn't wrap her head around why Asami would be so dismissive of what hey managed in the wake of all that chaos. Especially considering the depth of Asami's emotional investment given what she had lost. ]

I- Yeah...wait, what? [ She shook her head like she was trying to shake loose a more articulate response. ]

Did Kuvira's big stunt in Republic City fly over your head since we last spoke or something?

[Aaand then she steps out of her room and the lighting changes. She's less pale, more grey. Marceline yawns, showing a clear glimpse of sharp teeth. rassumfrassum sunlight, stupid forced diurnal schedule--]

I think? I dunno, I'm in Heropa. [Oh, right, the other cities...]

Did the Porter bring her with you? Man, it left my dog back home. [waaaait a second]

Was that her just now?

[Asami stops, literally clicking away from the feed to check a few things over, but when she doesn't find the answer she seeks, she hesitantly returns. Korra can see her face the entire time, anyway, going from concerned to vaguely frustrated to trying to find an answer. She has no idea what Korra is talking about, but there is one fact above all else: Korra would never lie to her.

In fact, that needs to be repeated: Korra would never lie to her. The emphasis is important. Asami had known what those letters meant, after all. She had understood that tacit statement there, and all that it meant. So for Korra to say that is confusing.]

I-I do believe you, [she says, finally. She breathes out a sigh.] But I don't know what it means. What did Kuvira do? [The question is asked, but she does pause, looking at her surroundings. Well, she is nearly done with work for the day.]

Actually ... Korra, where are you? I'll come find you.

Does being okay with it or not okay with it change the reality?

[A young man definitely not pushing thirty with- bright blue hair and what looks to be a loose, wide necked neon green t-shirt. Women's from the looks of it, really makes his collarbones show too. Dangling earrings with dark green circles on them as well, looks like he skimped on the clown makeup though today.

Holds himself with odd- bored but intrigued posture and expression, giving the camera a smile with orange glossed lips.]

Ava-~? [Mocking tone, matching the way her word sort of stilted. Ava-uh-what?]

POLAR BEAR DOG!!!

Oh, you...oh.

[ Her heart flutters then sinks when a creeping suspicions comes forward: Asami's doesn't remember. That faltering break in Asami's voice cuts her to the quick because she knows where the blank spaces between what she remembers and what Asami couldn't be given justice with one conversation and a few kind words.

Suddenly feeling like she stepped on eggshells from where she sat, Korra fidgets. ]

There's this city, De Chima and I'm in one of the residential house I was assigned or something. Three? That was the number on the door.

No.

[ She doesn't know what she is saying no to but no. ]

Absolutely not.

Yeah I think we've established that.

[ With the video feed still running, Kamala can hear Naga just off screen making a curious little half-bark half-exhale that sounds like boof ]

Isn't this the internet?

You had a thought there, you cut it off. Someone that can save the world? Sounds like an important title.
