February 1st, 2014. [ It's late in the afternoon and despite the six cups of tea Rin's had to wake up, the weariness in her voice is loud and clear. ] It had been on my mind once I realized the year and as the deadline grew closer, I prepared in the short amount of time I had.

Though I suppose it wasn't enough. [ She's being intentionally vague as to what this deadline was or her goal, though that's hardly unusual for her. Frustrating network posts are her specialty. ] This world's spiritual realm isn't so easily accessible, so it's natural that I was unable to locate what was missing. Maybe it was the lack of a catalyst--I thought that was my problem before, but it turns out that time I had the perfect one. The leash certainly failed to do it's part as a substitute...

Regardless of all that, if you see any spare spirits or demons around that appear otherworldly, it's my responsibility to dispose of them. After all, I'm the one who stirred them awake so I should be the one to put them back to sleep.

--don't suppose anyone has a list of the imPorts that failed to make it? [ Clearly added on as an after thought as her voice picks up a bit though it's likely a distraction tactic. ] Well? Is there such a list?

Things were kind of messy, back there, so I'm not sure who was still around. [ A beat. ] A list ain't a bad idea, if no one's come up with one yet.

Don't know if I can help with the ghost thing, though. Don't you need to have -- [ Hah. ] -- a sixth sense or something, for that?

[ SHE HAS NO FRIENDS. ] What?

No, I just thought it should be a thing we ought to do. In case someone else was looking for a friend.

You mean to tell me that you don't have a sixth sense? Here I was under the impression that you could do it all, Mister Bradbury.

[ Sarcasm aside. ] So far no one's been able to tell me if such a list exists. I suppose in the end if I want it to be done, I'd have to create one myself. Figuring out who actually is here and who isn't though would be troublesome.

[ He snorts. ] Reckon I might have the opposite.

It's a good idea, and I haven't heard anyone trying it yet. [ He's a little ashamed he didn't think of it himself, but... ] Guess you'd have to start by figuring out who was still around first, though.

During all that chaos? It'd be no easy task, so wouldn't it be easier to start with people who should be here, but have yet to talk to their familiar ones?

[ Meaning the responsibility should be placed on their friends to speak up. ]

Do you think it'd be a good idea with the registering and everything else that's going on?

[ Rin might not have much sense when it comes to the well-being of others, but she does seek advice from someone who may be better versed in the politics of this world. ]

Is that why you were so curious about my Servant?

[ The one person she was hoping to avoid today and here he was to remind her of the past she can't snatch back. ]

Were you not expecting me to notice?

Perhaps it was unwise to advertise yourself so blatantly.

I thought you would be off doing things that an adult would be such as providing for your family with a job? [ Tch. ]

What do you intend to do with that knowledge, Kirei Kotomine?

Family? You wouldn't mean yourself, would you? I thought you said you had outgrown me.

It just informs me that I'll have to keep extra watch over you; you're without your protector, after all.

[ There's no hiding the growl behind those two words. ] You can't just say you're not going to provide for me, then you'll watch over me the next. Make up your mind, Kirei Kotomine.

Ah, but there is a difference between providing and protecting.

[ Only because he wants to be difficult about it. ]

If it's what you want, you may have it; it does seem I am all you have left in this place.

If you think I'm pathetic enough to grovel for protection...

[ The rest of her words are cut off by incomprehensible grumbling. Even now the thought of Kirei protecting her is enough to set her into near hysterics. ]

Hm? [ a soft prodding sound to her grumbling, before he continues: ] I didn't ask to you grovel.

But you are right, aren't you? We are something like family.

[gevurah]

It's not a bad idea. We were already a small group, but who knows if we all came over.

Guess that's a good point.

[ Honestly, Bradbury hasn't been paying too much attention himself -- only enough to know that not everyone is thrilled at the idea of registered imports. ]

Don't see why it wouldn't be. You tried asking any of the suits about it? [ Though calling them that is a bit silly, really, given that Holiday and his crew are hardly your typical bureaucrats. ] I figure they'd know where... well, where any of us are.

[ Given their handy-dandy tattoos. ]

We were until you pointed out my age.

I bet it's the last thing on your mind right now, isn't it? [ What a passive aggressive way to say DON'T FORGET MY BIRTHDAY. ]

No one apparently. I guess a list was the least of our concerns.

[ Exhaling a heavy sigh. ] You know anyone off the top of your head that failed to come with?

[gandere]

The suits?

[ The term is lost on her as she's yet to be acclimated into the Western manner of speech, but soon it registers in her mind. Did he mean the people who addressed them when they first arrived? ]

Do you think that's something I should do? How many do you think aren't... registered?

I wouldn't say that.

I am more than aware of your timing. Perhaps I should let you borrow Lancer after all; most children enjoy dogs, don't they?

Although I imagine you'll have outgrown that.

I plan to make him my own Servant in due time.

[ How she plans to do that is still in the works, but maybe she ought to not tell his current Master about any of that. ]

I don't need another pet. The house is pretty full as is, isn't it?

[ She's been wearing her heart on her sleeve today in all sorts of ways, it seems. ]

Hm. I imagine he would bother the cats. That is why he would be kept outside.

[ Ghostbusters clearly. ] That's a relief.

You never know what the spirits of another world will do if you poke and prod at them--spiritually that is. You can't just smack around a spirit physically. Usually. You usually can't do that.
