[I hope you're ready for someone clearly uncertain about technology. Though he's not wearing his armor (for once) there's still a bright red gash of warpaint across an eye, and his long blonde hair still hasn't been combed out well... But at least he looks like he's bathed semi-recently. That's a plus. And he's wearing sort-of normal clothes. A dark hoodie with the sleeves shoved up to bear thick, hairy arms, though the rest is obscured from where he's sitting at some outdoor picnic table next to a stack of library books.

(If you turn your head sideways to read the titles, they all seem to be about homebrewing beer.)

He's watching the communicator a bit uncertainly, but seems to be operating it alright- aware that it's recording, but not exactly certain how. Be proud, it's only taken him like an hour to do this.]

Greetings, ImPorts. [Sort of polite, at least, but man is that a strong accent. Something a bit hard to place, though roughly Scandinavian. He lifts a hand to scratch at the trimmed beard at his jaw, considering what to say.]

I understand we're all stuck in this Plane for the time being. I wouldn't mind getting to know more about it, and your own worlds as well.

[His smile broadens warmly.] -And if you prefer to speak in person, some men in town were eager to give me some of the 'cash' used here in exchange for my gold from Tamriel. So if anyone knows a hall with good ale, I'd be happy to buy a round.

[....yeah he got like $500 for just shy of a half-pound of gold coins and feels so proud of himself. Yay discovering 'Cash 4 Gold'.]

My own world is kind of similar to this one- similar enough that the differences can be really confusing.

Most people I've seen are familiar with much of the world here. Not just the technology, but the events and locations as well.

[A short nod.] What main differences are there?

The technology is a bit more advanced, but it borrows its general look from an era some sixty years ago. Where I'm from, cars have wheels and travel on roads. They don't fly.

And the Cold War has been over for some time back home. The conflict seems to still be going on here.

I'd be happy to tell you about where I come from over a drink or two. Where should we meet?

[A shake of the head.] I don't know many good locations yet, truthfully. Someplace in Heropa would be best, I feel. I'm still a bit wary of those porters.

[And... cars.]

Well, I'm in Heropa, so that works!

Why don't we just wander until we find something?

[Crane flicks the screen on. He looks pleasant enough, an unseeming man with clean, trimmed hair, smart clothes and an even stare. There were few things that drew him onto the network; intelligent minds, mallable minds. Anxious phobics who needed his whispers in their ear, breathing softly that it'll be alright.

Sometimes he was drawn by the outlandish and absurd. Or things that benefitted his work. This filled both criteria.]

[And rummaging through a messenger bag on the bench next to him, he holds up a single gold Septim to demonstrate it- Slightly worn, but the side shown as the image of a diamond-shaped, stylized dragon, along with the words: 'Praise be Akatosh, and all the Divines.' ]

In Tamriel, the empire uses them as currency- though I understand businesses here use paper notes instead.

In his world as any, man kills for gold. Notes are an ill substitute. People still fear destitution. Famine in ill-times, slavery and abuse in the good. They still rob dollars from banks.]

[He tucks it casually back away, considering the question for a moment. 'Dollars'- right, that's what they were called. A tap on the chin, as though considering, before he responds.]

Several hundred dollars- [It's spoken casually, but he'll avoid giving a specific amount.] From what I've seen of how much things cost, it seemed an acceptable amount.

[Hell, he was able to get this whole outfit and the bag for less than a hundred.]

Well.

I hate to inform you, mind.

[He looks away, as though he finds this difficult. Oh, but he loves it. But that's not showing in his concerned look.]

You've been been cheated. Sorry.

[What a concerned, helpful man!]

You'd best keep whatever gold you have left. You shouldn't need to trade it in the first place. Were you not given a job?
