That's where I have trouble. Sometimes it is the right thing to do something that will hurt someone else, but I'm not always sure I'm thinking straight on it. It's too tempting to be self-protective. There's also the magnitude in which they hurt others to take into consideration-- what if they're doing it because they're otherwise powerless, and it's their only form of retaliation?
I know it's a generalization but even that much is probably helpful.
