Someone asked me recently how I'd define moral and immoral, but I think my perspective's a little skewed. How do you define it?

It really depends on the person. And a lot of people's ideas conflict with others.

I was expecting that. Intellectually you can anticipate that someone's life experiences will form their morals, but in practice sometimes it's not that straight forward. So I'm curious.

It's too large scale for normal life. Going to school isn't exactly life or death.

True enough, although a good many people here are accustomed to life or death situations. So perhaps it's not as skewed as you'd think... in this company.

Yeah. I hacked my records for my apartment and said I'm 18 - I lied to the landlord when we met that it's an imPort effect for me to look this young - but the college knows better and they want me to have an actual guardian. I'm really sorry to ask.

No need to apologise. It's no trouble for me to help you out, especially if it's to assist you in settling into a more normal routine.

They'd prefer I show up in person at least once, I assume? And there's possibly paperwork to go with it? [ Good thing he has a human body. Even with all the oddness of imPorts in this world, he's not sure they'd accept an obvious AI as a valid guardian, since their own tech hasn't progressed this far yet. ]

Honestly I only notice what the people in charge want in order to know how much trouble I'll be in if / when I break it.

i tend to center it around what is hurting people and why
there can be perfectly just and moral reasons to hurt people
and then there are those who do it to take what they have or as a means to exert influence
or sometimes just because they felt like hurting someone
those that do such things are who one may have a moral right and sometimes imperative to hurt

this is more than a bit oversimplified and can be easily misapplied if taken at its strictest letter
but in its most basic form it mostly holds true

[This is Cadel's first time seeing that kind of text, but he's spent the majority of his life as a denizen of the internet so it's nothing surprising to him.]

That's where I have trouble. Sometimes it is the right thing to do something that will hurt someone else, but I'm not always sure I'm thinking straight on it. It's too tempting to be self-protective. There's also the magnitude in which they hurt others to take into consideration-- what if they're doing it because they're otherwise powerless, and it's their only form of retaliation?

I know it's a generalization but even that much is probably helpful.

Kind of. It's at least beneficial to gain a broader perspective. It's always more accurate to corroborate with as many sources as possible.
