For those of you whom I haven't yet met, my name is Robert Callaghan. I've been here for about a month, give or take, and I'm trying to look in to a few things- namely, the circumstances about our arrival.

I've already had a look at those 'FAQs' - and whomever wrote those, you can add my thanks to the pile you've already gotten - but even with the overview on what is and isn't known, I'm looking for a few more specifics. They're probably still things that have been asked before, so if they're boring, well, I apologize in advance. [not]

Mostly, I'm interested in any of you who have experience with the 'Porter'. Whether you're from the 'previous batch' I've read about, or you've had the opportunity to take of it up close...or, to go in a different direction, if you've had experience with dimensional-hopping before even coming here.

I realize that even with 'specifics' those can be a bit broad...and they're not so much questions as, well, headhunting. But I figure that if you're willing to volunteer yourselves to be 'interviewed' based on all that, then it'll save some time in the long run.

I never looked at it up close, but something weird happened with me and the Porter once! I left home when I was in a different form, but when I arrived here, I couldn't access that anymore.

I might just let you, if you're willing. I'm not completely foreign to the concept of dimensional transport, but I am looking for just about every working theory people are familiar with.

...but Hiro had said they'd all come out of it unscathed, and even rescued the man's daughter. If it hadn't been for the one casualty that came of all this, she'd have been able to forgive him. Still, she was going to run into him sooner or later. Might as well rip the bandaid off now.]

The only other 'dimension' I've ever visited is Death... which may not be all that helpful for what you're asking about.

[this is at least partially a lie - wherever Hazel was while she was dead, it most certainly wasn't earth. but she's sure as hell not talking about that with a complete stranger over the network, helpful or not.]

I've checked every library in every imPort city. There's no substantial information on the Porter anywhere, nor could I find much about dimension-hopping that would helpful with the practical application. The internet hasn't been much help either.

You're having better luck, I hope?

I tried earlier, but it's good to know that I didn't miss much. [he pauses, reaching for the coffee] There's one man who fits everything, but other than him...

First, I think I'd like an explanation of what you meant by that.

Only time I see the Porter is when going back and forth from Canaveral and De Chima. From what I can see, they're pretty much the same... but people claim the one in Canaveral's possessed or something, since it's the only one hauling us in.

And I dunno about dimensions back home, but there were some issues with space and time and shit like that. Extra hours, places that couldn't exist in normal time and space, that kinda thing.

I was on a similar project, a while back. I suppose I'd like to see what they did, here, that has made it so stable- for certain definitions thereof.

I wouldn't be tampering with anything, if that's what you're concerned about. Just note taking.

Just trying to broaden my horizons...there's a wealth of knowledge among us, but I was looking at filtering through some of it.

I can tell you about my dimension hopping. It didn't need a Porter, though I can tell you what little I know about devices like that back home. I'm no expert, but you might have some basics to start things.

But I should warn you—confronting the Porter, or Lachesis, who possesses the Porter—well, it doesn't end well.

Believe me, I'm not planning on confronting them. Her. There's a can of worms there that I don't think anyone needs. Unless you count a want to see the design with my own eyes, but I'm not about to demand transport to anywhere, and I promise if I get the chance I'll be on my best behavior.

All that said, if you'd like to talk about those devices, I'm listening.

'They' aren't the ones I'm asking. And even if they weren't cooperating...from what I've seen, people here are willing to put their heads together for the right reasons.
