Video
[Camera is on and there's Red, hat and all, looking fairly peeved.]
Y'know, things were rough enough in Maurtia Falls afore people decided to stir the pot when the pot were already spillin' over. Fer awhile there I were dealin' with land sharks when I went patrolin', y'all. Land. Sharks.
Now, I know I sound madder than a hornet, 'cause I am, but it ain't about all'a that. All'a that I can deal with. Naw, what's got me so pushed over the edge is the fact I can no longer go outside with my bo--g-guy . . . friend--[Can she properly call Croach her boyfriend at this point? She sure isn't going to call him an onal partner, knowing how immature some folks on the network are.]--guy friend an' not havin' folks lookin' or jeerin' at 'im fer not bein' human; an imPort. An' if he's gettin' treated like that, then that means others gotta be, too. Probably innocent folks with less reserve than Croach, whose feelin's are gettin' hurt or they're a-scared to go out in the open without havin' to make themselves look human. Ain't no one that should have to hide what they are.
[She pauses to sigh, hand going to rub the bridge of her nose.] Reckon I should get to the point. [Lowers her hand to look into the camera as stoic and calm as possible.] I were part of a group here, thinkin' it'd be good to team up with others what could do things I ain't so good at doin'--I ain't truly an investigator or a spy, fer instance. But in the end, what good is bein' in a group if you didn't know who you could trust.
So I'm on my own again. I ain't 'bout to stop helpin' folks, even if the criminal element start throwin' out land whales next. Even if the government punishes the whole city fer the actions of a politician-type gettin' too big for his breeches. So, if any of ya are in need of some helpin', whether it be natives harrassin' ya or some jerk just stole yer TV, you can give me a call. Or if any of ya have need of someone to help ya track or take down a nefarious sort, in any city, give me a call, too--only if'n ya have good evidence, of course. I ain't foolish enough to jump into somethin' on someone's supposed good word.
[Beat.] An' before some other smart alec says it, yes, ya can call me if'n your roomba is actin' up. I am still workin' fer 'em. [Another beat. How do you end a post of this sort? Uh...] Uh. Bye.

Yeh, reckon I ain't able to say I ain't surprised by the folks showin' their true colors. But there were always that hope it were more just paranoia than fact.
Reckon ya got yerself a power there fer travelin'? Much obliged fer the offer, but me an' Croach can handle any looks, an' if anythin' comes to blows I reckon they'd be the ones wishin' they could teleport away than us. But if'n I come across someone in trouble with such a need, I'll comm ya.
[She sighs at the last question, expression falling back into a stern sort of stoicism. All business.] There weren't anythin' truly specific, like I weren't hearin' no folks plottin' to use resources to kill the mayor or nothin' like that. But reckon some of what practices what were bein' done, an' what whispers on the wind floatin' in my ear, left me feelin' cold.
Back home I usually worked alone, an' in the end, reckon that's what's best. [Alone meaning with Croach half the time, but that's just sort of a given in her mind.]

[ of course, most of her skills tend to be socially focused, or on what she can do for others. she'd at least need a recipient for it to be worth the effort, it isn't like anything can only be done for her own sake. ]
But I do apologize if any practices we have undertaken have left you alienated. I certainly don't agree with everything we do, I can only ensure that they're done...in a way that is the least terrible, at times. When really, we should be striving for our best instead.
[ she lets out a sigh of her own, but moves on rather than dwelling on it. some of her concerns are rather better not to touch on publicly. ]
And yes, I do have a power meant to accommodate travel. Portals are preferable to teleportation in that way, I find, as they're much better at moving multiple people.

But she gives half a smile, almost sympathetic, or pitying. Something like that.]
An' ya shouldn't feel like that when workin' alone. I ain't out there stoppin' muggers, women-attackers or rampagin' robuts fer my ownself. I probably ain't able to stop a whole army on my own, but stoppin' mutant banditos from shootin' up a spacecoach jest to take the Space Fargo shipment in there means all the world to the family what were in there along with it.

[ something about that look wrinkles her nose, purely by reflex. she doesn't do well with pity, it makes her feel weak. ]
But...I suppose that is right. I mean, the very motivation of this undertaking isn't to change the environment for us as imPorts. We have no promise of how long we'll be in this world, and the effects made to it shouldn't be solely for our sake. It's the people who live here, and who will continue to live here the rest of their lives, they are the ones who should receive the greater benefit from the task we hope to achieve. They are the ones who should feel safe in their city, even after we're long gone.
The point of Archangel is that it shouldn't last forever, and that when it has achieved what it was designed for, Maurtia Falls will be a place that can effectively look after itself.

Honestly, if'n you folks can make the group into somethin' an' are in fact able to make it so this place ain't needin' us anymore, I will be the first to shake all'a y'all's hands.
[Assuming it isn't corrupted and someone turns the group into some wannabe totalitarian force. Not that she got the impression that was where it was going to, but she's familiar with the great corruptibility of power, even with folks with the greatest of intentions. She would rather observe than be in the midst of it.]

I don't hold it against you, I'm rather the same way. But if that is how you feel, I look forward to the day when we can cash that handshake in. I don't expect it to be soon, but I do hope it does eventually occur.
sorry this is late, notif got lost :|
She gives her a wry little grin.]
Achievin' a state'a good is rarely a simple affair. If'n it were, the world, all worlds, reckon, wouldn't be needin' folks like us.
it happens!
Hi Dorian.]Well, it's a collaborative effort, either way. We can't achieve it without them any more than they could without us. But as long as we can eventually win the fight, I should think they'll find the strength to make their city what it's meant to be.

You know, I would have thought red tape would be just the sort you'd be most fond of.

Real cute, Miss Maryam.

But either way, I do hope that you're able to contribute in a way that satisfies you, without any obstacles from bureaucratic sources. It is unfortunate that you've decided to part from out group, but should the opportunity come for us to work in tandem toward mutual purposes, it would please me to have you as an ally. Even if not as a comrade.
