[ Carl originally thought to make this text, and maybe to individual inboxes to make the matter more private.
He decided against this because 1) text is impersonal and shooting bullets into one's home is definitely a personal matter 2) Carl has been so bad at interacting with his roommates outside Death the Kidd that he doesn't even know the names of his other roommate's. So open post it is. ]
Um. People have been disappearing and reappearing and new people showing up, and me working longer hours at the magazine stand and taking summer courses, I didn't pay much attention to people who are my roommates, besides Kidd. I'm sorry about that.
So to anyone living in Apartment 2 in Maurita Falls, I am really sorry if seeing bullet holes in the walls scared you. That was me and somebody else. Got into a misunderstanding. It's fine now, no one was hurt, so it's nothing to worry about.
[ He can already tell people are going to freak out, more so from people who didn't live in the apartment. ]

[ Ellie can't exactly blame Carl for doing what he did. New people make her nervous, too. And if he didn't recognize his father? Oh yeah, she would have done the same thing in that situation. ]
Well thank god you didn't shoot him. I mean, I would have done the same thing in that position.
Private;
It's just the scary part was that I was willing to let a guy I've assumed to be a burglar go, without taking my things. But my dad doesn't do that stuff.
He doesn't believe in warning shots.
[ He mulls, thinking it over. ]
I was planning to move to Xavier's this month. No way he's going to stay in the assigned apartment. They got two bedroom apartments there, right?
Private;
[ Which is entirely directed at Jesse. She had no idea who he was, but he sure as shit knew her. And it didn't take long to realize that he was essentially a father to her the last time she was here. ]
What matters is that you guys are both still in one piece, and bullets weren't wasted.
[ She pauses. ]
Um. Yeah, they do. Let me see if I can hook you two up with something.
Private;
[ Jesus Christ, Dad. Maybe living here for months have soften him, or mollify him, or whatever, but the disconnect is surreal. Carl still live like a survivor, but it's not like he hasn't forgotten his life from before the virus destroy the world. He honestly thought the older members of the group like his Dad would have a better time of it adjusting to this place.
But that's not fair, and he's not going to voice it. Carl has the luxury of being here for months on end, adjusting on his own pace. Dad just arrived, still in shock. ]
He's given me a ton of stuff that I think he's stolen from other places. Mostly food, though.
Private;
[ Hell, Ellie got lucky. She might have bolted and done the same thing, were it not for Jesse finding her in the alley that day. ]
It's gonna take a while for him to adjust. Shit, I still haven't totally adjusted.
But I've got you guys covered, don't worry. It'll be cool having you as a neighbor. We can hang out more.
Private;
[ But at least Dad is here, that's what matters. ]
Yeah, it'll be great to hang out once we settle.
