[Euphie's voice comes over the communicator, but to those of you who are familiar with her customarily cheerful, upbeat tone, she sounds... scared? There's a desperate confusion in her voice, which shakes and trembles and even wavers in volume-- mostly because her hands are shaking and moving the communicator back and forth.]

Wh... what... Suzaku? Suzaku, can you hear me? It's Euphie. I'm here, so... Where are-- where am I? The Japanese SAZ, it... [She trails off, her voice sounding now absolutely stricken.]

Lelouch, why? Why did you... what's going on? [And it goes silent with a click.]

[That's Euphie's voice, but it sure doesn't sound like the composed and cheerful Euphie with whom Josuke is familiar.]

Euphie? [There's something wrong. But he's not familiar enough with the names she mentioned to know what they have to do with the distress he hears in her voice...] You don't remember where you are?

I... I should be in Japan, at the Special Autonomous Zone, but... but I'm not. [And there's suddenly an exhaustion in her voice that replaces some of the desperation.] I... don't think I should turn it on. [But the voice. The voice is familiar. How does she know this voice?]

[Unfortunately, that doesn't really clarify for Josuke whether or not she remembers him, which causes him to frown. He's not ready to give up, of course. Never has been the type to back down when a friend is need of a helping hand.]

I'm pretty sure there's nothing like that here.

[Special Autonomous Zone in Japan? Nope, not last he'd heard. Not last he'd seen, either.]

You're in America. Probably one of the four imPort cities: Heropa, Nonah, De Chima, or Maurtia Falls. Unless you're at the base in Cape Canaveral...

[A brief pause, during which Josuke peers intently at the screen and then forces himself to smile in a friendly manner. He doesn't want to unnerve her further, after all.]

It's alright if you don't wanna turn it on, Euphie. But...are you okay? Like, really okay? 'Cause if you need help at all, you know I'll do what I can, right?

[Whether she remembers him or not.]

America? [Not Britannia? Then this is...] I'm-- I'm back here? But I... I was... [And there's that confusion again, because she shouldn't be here. She shouldn't be anywhere.] You're... Josuke, right? [There's a pause and then the video flickers on. Euphemia is wrapped in a bedsheet, and judging from how her shoulders are bare, it's all she's got on. Her hair is disheveled and messy, and her skin is uncomfortably pale.] I don't know what's going on.

G-give him a second, will you? It's not as though he's got any reason to be expecting a sight like that, disheveled hair aside and pale skin aside.

Fortunately, though, Josuke's able to make a quick recovery and he goes from staring rather wide-eyed one moment to glancing off to the side the next. He's seen what's important—and not one bit more, he's not that kinda guy, thank you—but with her being tucked away in a room rather than outside somewhere, he's not really sure what city she's in.]

You got it! I'm glad you remember that at least. [His name. It's a start. But as to the rest...] You were Ported out, must have went back home. Whatever happened, though...hey, you're safe now, okay?

[His saying that he's worried about her goes completely missed, as she focuses on that part.]

[Had Kaneda not recently had that accident and met up with her again, he might not have recognized her voice. But when her voice trembles on the other side of that feed, Kaneda's ears metaphorically perk up. He's in his way home from Maurita Falls, a little bruised from fighting but otherwise fine, sitting in his bike.]

[Hopefully he sounds familiar enough cause there's no introduction.]

[Like with Josuke, the voice is familiar, but with everything that's happened she can't place it.] I don't know. I... I'm not hurt, but how can that... I shouldn't be here.

[The video turns on... and she barely looks like herself. Her skin is deathly pale, her hair disheveled and messy. More to the point, she's not wearing anything except for what looks like a bedsheet wrapped around her body at her shoulders. Her expression is confused, eyes flicking back and forth.] It was... Area Eleven. The Japanese SAZ dedication. I... I went, and then... then I don't remember.

Euphie, is that you? [Where she hadn't been affected by the fear gas during the swear-in, it's hard for Toby to hear her out of sorts now.] Are you... seeing things? Is everything all right?

I. I don't. [Her teeth chatter for a moment, and there's the rustling of fabric.] I'm not seeing things, but I shouldn't... be here.

I was in Japan, so how... so why...?

Japan? No, this is—you're in America. [A beat.] The Porter. Must've taken you back home, that's all I could think of. Then it... picked an inconvenient time and brought you back to this world. You're all awash in panic; is there any way I can help you?

[Because she'd helped him some weeks ago, and he'd like to both thank her and return the favour, if possible.]
