I don't think anyone reads Gilgamesh for the enlightening themes or prose. Its fame comes more from its age and historical significance. It's also interesting in its ties to even more significant Middle Eastern works. Who knows? Maybe it was nothing special during its day. But at least it doesn't mention dick Parkinson's.

You seem pretty well-read for someone enjoying literal and figurative trash.
