Hello, everyone! I'm sure you see lots of posts like this, but I'm new and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is *Hyun-ae - the star is silent, it just signifies that I'm an AI.

So, a little bit about myself: I was born on the colony ship Mugunghwa. This is my first time on a planet's surface - I've heard so much about Earth, and I'm really excited to finally be here! Everything is so huge and open, I can hardly believe it. I was exploring and almost got lost in the forest near the residential block I was assigned to. It was only 4 degrees... Earth is really cold +_+

I'm still getting used to life on a planet and having a real body, so I'm apologizing in advance if I say or do anything weird or stupid, this is just all really new to me. For now I'm just taking a few days to sort of get acclimated, but I can't wait to make some new friends here on Earth!

Now that I'm on Earth, life's opportunities really feel unlimited~

What kind of ship was the Mugunghwa? Were you being literal about being 'born'? Are AIs common on your world?

Sorry for being confusing, I'll try to clarify!

A colony ship! It was heading out to eventually reach a habitable world in another star system, but the journey was so long that it basically functioned as its own contained world for the generations in between launch and arrival.

Yeah, I was - the circumstances are a little complicated, but I was originally a human. If you want to get technical about it, I'm an AI created from a human brain imprint.

>Are AIs common on your world?
I think so! There weren't too many on the ship, but I heard they had been around on Earth for at least a couple hundred years when the Mugunghwa left.

Wow someone actually tried building a generation ship. No fancy FTL tech for you?

Nope, not for a long, long time after the ship launched. It makes the whole thing feel a little futile when the ship spends centuries flying out into space, then another ship makes the same journey in three days...

Probably a bit of a shock when a second ship showed up like that. But hey, at least I bet after that it was probably a pretty simple matter to just ferry everyone the rest of the way to your new home.

Welcome to Earth Hyun-ae! (*Hyun-ae?) I hope you like it here! I've never met an AI from space before, getting used to Earth *and* a body at the same time must be *really* weird.

Oh, there's a lot of AIs and synthetic life here, so if you ever need help with something, let us know!

Oh, that's really good to hear! I wasn't sure whether or not AIs were prevalent yet in this time period.

Well, there aren't really any *native* AIs, but there's certainly plenty of us in the import population. I'm honestly still kind of surprised - where I'm from we've been a major part of daily human life for over a decade, and this place is a few years ahead of us without any AIs at all!

Yeah, that's a little surprising for me to hear, too! I thought I remembered learning that the first AIs emerged in the year 19-something, so...

That's how I remember it happening too! This place is so backwards, though. Half the time the hardware here either gives me a headache or makes me feel like I'm thinking funny.

It's only going to be cold for the next couple months. It usually gets warmed around March or April. Earth has a lot of different temperatures depending where you are and the time of year.

Oh, that's right, I've heard about that! That's called 'winter', right? Like, it's not just an emotional metaphor, but an actual physical change to the planet...

[The investigator said that this was a thing, but it's still weird to see it in person.]

Yeah that's right. Earth is always changing its climate. Only a few places are relatively the same temperature throughout the whole year, and it's usually to one extreme or another.

Like right now the trees are all leafless because of the winter, but by spring you'll begin to see the branches all grow back leaves again.

So that's why they all look so different from the pictures... I really can't wait to see what it all looks like once spring starts. Everything's so much less... I dunno, controlled? than it was on the ship.

Earth is a pretty crazy, uncontrollable place sometimes. A lot of times actually.

I never heard of a colony ship before though. Were you in charge of the whole ship electronically or something?

No, it's brand new! I've never had a proper robot body before now.

Is Black*Star an AI, too?

Yeah! You're the fourth one I've talked to today, I was really surprised - especially considering that apparently there aren't really any local AIs, just imPorts.

I'm an AI made from a human brain scan. I've got a pretty high-end machine body.

No, I'm not one. I work with them.

I'm guessing you were the onboard AI for the ship?

No, there was an AI named *Mute who was like that, but I was just a passenger, more or less. I only had myself scanned because of a major emergency situation, it's kind of a long story.

Huh. How common are AI where you're from? Mainstream? Experimental?
