[ Kid's been absent for the better part of the week in the wake of the Debrecen bombings. He didn't inform anyone of where he was going, but given the backdrop of his video feed, he's back in Maurtia Falls. He looks more than a little rumpled and dirty, as if he's been wearing his same suit the whole time (he has been). Nonetheless, he addresses the viewers levelly and calmly. ]

In response to the American government's bombing of Debrecen, in the murder of unaffiliated and undefended civilians, I went to Hungary to assist with the aid efforts. Needless to say, the Hungarian citizens were not pleased by my presence... there was a great deal of resistance to my helping, at times violent. Despite that, I was able to help recover some survivors.

[ Too few of them, though. That definitely explains some of the damage and traces of blood on his clothing... the injuries may have since healed, but the evidence they left doesn't evaporate. ]

I did this in full awareness that my actions would be deemed criminal by the US, and have contacted the proper authorities that I am awaiting their arrival for my arrest, which I do not intend to resist. But I want to make it clear that even benevolent aid efforts, when they are directed to those whom the US government considers enemies, is seen as the same crime as participating in an attack against them. That humanitarian efforts are a crime if they are not approved.

My sentence will be temporary, but that doesn't change what I intend to do going forward. The Soviets may have provoked the initial reaction, but the US willingly chose to target primarily civilians. In good conscience, I can no longer support or tolerate their actions.

The same contingent as whom are sentencing me, would be my guess. I'm not trying to be coy, I simply think it's amusing that we as imPorts seem to care very little about the procedure of things until it's one of us.

To be fair, "the procedure of things" generally doesn't apply to imPorts. I suspect they would deal much more harshly with you if you were a native of this country.

ImPorts do have their own rules, yes, but by that same token, they should understand that our natures don't always align with their ideals.

The same can be said for any native that doesn't agree with the government's policies. [A beat.] You said you encountered resistance in Debrecen. Did the authorities try to apprehend you?

They did not, the resistance I met there was almost entirely civilian-based. Understandably, they were not happy with an imPort participating in aiding them, and frankly... the authorities had more pressing issues to deal with at the moment, not to mention they might have been concerned about provoking further aggression from the US.

Did you use your powers while you were there? How did the civilians know you were an imPort?

I did, yes, my abilities were helpful for locating those who were trapped in otherwise inaccessible areas. Even if I hadn't however, my appearance is fairly identifiable.

[Honestly, he can't say he's terribly sympathetic. That's not to say they shouldn't help people, but Barnaby privately thinks it's rather arrogant of imPorts to enter other countries against their citizens' wishes. As much as they may wish to divorce themselves from the US government's atrocious actions, registered imPorts are still affiliated with the US military. The people of Debrecen have every right to resist imPorts' unsolicited help, and the US has valid reasons for wanting to keep imPorts out of enemy territory. It's sad, but it's also reality.]

What will happen if they determine that you haven't been properly rehabilitated during your sentence? Do you know?

[ Kid's used to Shibusen superseding silly things like country boundaries, but even if he hadn't been, no amount of government regulation is going to trump the chance to save lives. ]

I'm not sure. It's possible that my sentence may be extended.

I'll be watching your case in the future. I've no doubt the imPort community will come to your aid should the need arise.
