[ Babs isn't quite beaming at the camera when it turns on, but there's an obvious excitement in her expression, even as she tries to play it oh-so cool. she doesn't love being away from home without notice, but there's a lot to be done here, so she's feeling pretty good about it. good enough that she's feeling up to posting to this big wide network of people, despite knowing perfectly well it'll put her out there in a much bigger way than just, y'know, showing up here in the first place.

she knows she's not the only Batgirl here, but she's prepared to handle that too. yeah. this is all going to be perfectly fine. and no, this optimism doesn't come easily to her, it really doesn't. but it's not like she's about to talk about that here, so. who cares, right? it's all good. mostly she's just hoping to see a familiar face. ]

Hello, --network! [ amazing start ] Does the network here have a name? That is definitely something I should know by now. But, not important. Hi. My name is Barbara Gordon, I'm still very much new here, but I am officially moved into my new place, and I'm feeling properly acquainted with the city itself, so-

Now? Now I'm in the mood for a giant cup of coffee and some small talk, if anybody would like to hang out. [ she holds up a finger ] Only a little small talk, please. Basic introductions, then we can skip all the awkward weather slash local sports team or celebrity gossip for something a little more interesting. [ i'd like to make new friends now, please and thanks. and she'll of course be doing as much network snooping as possible before meeting anyone, but hey. only way to get her social life back in order is to get.. one. so. ] That's it for me, I think. [ she gives a short wave goodbye, then disconnects the feed.



... the only problem with that is that the transmission only lasted a couple of seconds, and she somehow kind of sounded like she was talking in fast-forward. her words babbled out way too fast, kind of like this, yeah. woo! guess who has superspeed and has no idea how to control it yet? this girl! somebody help her. please. or just watch her transmission in slow-motion, maybe. that'll work too. ]

Apparently. [ her eyes widen a little bit as she lifts a hand, all very "but who even knows what that's about??" ] I've been trying to read up on it, but I haven't actually found that much literature about the types of powers you can be given here yet.

[The teen just kind of stared at the phone for what felt like moments but was probably more like a minute, trying to process that. Babs. But...she looked so young. She sounded so young. Heck, she sounded like Charlie did half the time on the phone. What the flip?]

[But, the name was right. And that hair and...maybe it was her? Maybe...maybe.]

[She had to at least talk to her, right? Okay. Deep breath. Try for a smile...mostly fail, and turn on the camera...]

[ the ID rings a bell, which for Barbara Gordon, it means she absolutely knows who she is. it takes her a second to place the name with a face, but she realizes after she only didn't recognize her right away because the only time she's seen her was very briefly, and the girl was wearing a mask. ]

It's good to see you again, Misfit. Under- way better circumstances than the last time, too.

[ how has she already managed to embarrass herself? she's usually pretty great in social situations, even awkward social situations, but this is so out of left field for her. why superspeed? why? ]

I had no idea it would translate into everything my body is capable of. When you read "super speed" you think running speed, not- How fast I can run my mouth. [ huff! ] I'll just have to try some things out, that's all. No more surprises.

[ if Barb's eyes go wide, it's only because his are. she's having a weird moment herself, sort of, in that "I know you, I know I know you, so why am I actually having a hard time pinpointing EXACTLY who you are?" way that she's actually.. never experienced before. not like this. the whole.. Fugue thing was pretty horrifying to face, this is mostly just confusing. ]

[Well that certainly got his attention. Harrison hadn't been able to make out anything useful, so it seems that deciphering too-fast speech isn't something his enhanced hearing is going to help him with, but he knows speedster talk when he hears it.]

Guessing you weren't a speedster before you came here, or you'd know you just sped your way through that little speech, but I have a little experience with speedsters by now which means I might be able to help you out if you take me through the high points.

[Barbara isn't the only one who can occasionally talk fast.]

I was not, no. I think right now my only question is, what would be the safest way to test out what's different and what isn't? I can't say I even considered my talking speed might be affected, but here we are.
