[Kang is seated at a table outside on the patio of his apartment, enjoying the warm weather. There's a nice view of trees in the background, and he has a few papers assembled in front of him.
He's clearly comfortable with public speaking.]
The beginning of the month, when we have new arrivals, seems like the perfect time to bring some good news.
My name is Kang. I am the Director of the Sentient Life Fund, an organization that assists non-human imPorts and imPorts with more... unusual animal companions. We work with businesses and organizations to ensure these particular needs are met, from specialized medical care to navigating the legal landscape of this world.
There is one problem that starts when we first arrive. I remember when I was brought to this world - I was no longer in my own body, and due to being a little larger than the average human, my clothing no longer fit properly. I was very lucky that one of the men present had a spare set with them that day, as there was no other clothing available.
[He leans back, smiling wryly.]
I doubt I was the only one to encounter this problem. And, appropriate clothing could be a problem for any imPort, regardless of species. What if the Porter brings someone in at an inopportune time? What if the Porter brings in someone from a culture with very different ideas about what is and isn't considered decent? What if a new arrival would prefer to not be noticed immediately by their state of dress?
[Here, his smile becomes genuine.]
I am pleased to announce that SELF has come up with a solution. We have been contacting businesses in all of the major imPort cities, setting up drop-off points for a clothing donation drive. [A pause.] We will also accept monetary donations to go towards more clothing.
The donation drive will last until June 30th. If you would like your business or place of work to act as a drop-off point, please contact us at [insert phone number here], or contact me directly.
[Another pause. Kang looks down briefly as he moves one of the pieces of paper.]
I would also like to announce that SELF has started two training programs.
The first program is open to native soldiers. It is common for non-humans to be given human bodies upon arrival - I know from experience that it is very disorienting, and even having dealt with humans before doesn't always prepare one for the experience. This program will educate the soldiers we meet on arrival on how to handle any uncomfortable or strange anatomy questions, how to help with clothing problems, how to walk as a human... anything requiring immediate attention. These soldiers will also provide information on the available resources specific to their needs.
The second program will work similarly to the host programs commonly found in many countries. Adjusting to a new culture, or a new body, takes time, and it helps to have someone who knows the ropes around to answer questions. Our host program will provide volunteers, both native and imPort, to be available upon request to help new arrivals adjust to life on this world. If you'd like to volunteer, there is a link attached to this message with a form or you can visit us in person. We are located in Heropa, at [insert address here].
Thank you for your time, and for your continued support.
[Private, to Newt and Hermann:]
I assume Hermann will be joining us to ensure you don't die, Newt. I found a quarry; when is a good time to do this?

[It's weird that it isn't a thing already...]
...C-Can I donate pajamas, zura? No one ever tells you that you need special clothes just for sleeping, it's so weird, zura!

[Oh well.]
Okay then, normal clothes it is, zura.

Your program to educate the native military that greets us is an especially fine idea. The welcome imPorts receive at Cape Canaveral could certainly do with some improvement.

We are always looking for ways to make our time in this world a little more comfortable.

A search without end, but not without reward. And on that note, might there be any other support I can provide to SELF's selfless work? [He thinks he's funny.] Perhaps I could help recruit some native volunteers for your host program. I do have some contacts I can draw upon.
[Having a dedicated fandom, however niche, has its uses.]
no subject
That would be excellent, Count. We always have room for volunteers.

I will make the necessary arrangements, then, and keep you informed on the response we receive. I expect significant results: Countdown's fans tend to be quite supportive regarding imPort initiatives.
Furthermore, I may soon have greater resources to offer your cause. If and when I am elected Ambassador, I intend to be a source of support for all imPort business or charities. If there are any policies you can suggest which could make SELF's work easier, I would be happy to discuss them.

[Oh, interesting.]
If you are elected, I will certainly keep that in mind.

[A theme chosen very deliberately by the Count.]
May I know what your thoughts are regarding the current Ambassadorial race, Kang?

This is a good idea.

[He smiles, shrugging his wings.]
As you can see, I got my memories back.
no subject
Yeah, I forgot about it too. I've got things too. [A shrug. ]
I'm glad you're back to normal.

So, that drink.
