[So, some people might be familiar with Kogami, otherwise known as Mr. Tall, Dark, and Broody, who tends not to talk much and smokes more often than not. He's kind of got a tough guy air, basically.
...Which is effectively going to be shattered by this post, considering there's a gray tabby cat curled up and purring on his lap, and he's been gently stroking at its ears despite himself.]
So, um. Has anyone been missing a cat? She's been coming by my house every day for the last couple weeks, so I figured I should ask around, since there's no tags or anything.
...Otherwise, if you could point me toward resources on how to take care of a cat, that'd...be helpful, thanks.
[Because he's secretly a huge softie and feels too guilty to just send it back outside or drop it off at a shelter when the rain stops 8|;;;;]

Taking in a cat is a dark and dangerous road there, buddy. Once you take one in, they OWN your soul.
[He turns the video around to show an orange cat resting on the arm of the sofa. She has his other arm trapped and is grooming his hand with her tongue.]

Kogami half-reluctantly gives it another scratch behind its ears, at that. Tbh she already owns his soul, he just doesn't know it yet.]
Right. So what does that translate to in practical terms? Is there anything in particular I should be aware of?
no subject
Well, there's the essentials: litter box, food, water... You have to provide for her, so, you know. Get her fixed, get her her shots. Have money on hand in the event of vet things.
You can buy her toys, but Liebling likes boxes and discarded paper, like receipts...or pens, or really anything that gets dropped on the floor. Make sure she's got something to entertain herself, though.
She's in charge. She'll tell you when petting session is over--and then she'll be offended you've stopped. If she says 'get up at 5am and feed me,' argue all you like--you won't sleep until she gets her way. You can buy her stuff--bedding or whatever--but she'll still commandeer your stuff instead. She's part baby and part teenager and it's all the worst parts. But she's your baby. Be prepared to lose at least half your gallery space in your phone to pictures of her--and it's the stupidest shit, too. I have, like, a billion pictures of Liebling doing absolutely nothing, but it's a really CUTE nothing, so. [SHRUG] And don't be surprised if you have completely irrational, pointless, one-sided conversations with her. And if she sits on you, it doesn't matter if your legs fall asleep or you need that arm or you have to pee, if she's sitting there, you'll feel like a bad person just wanting her to move.
Welcome to cat parenthood?

I tend to sleep pretty irregular hours, anyway, so that should be fine about the feeding. I don't have a lot of things to get commandeered, either.
How often do you typically shop for your cat? Monthly? Weekly?
[He's also going to be researching the heck out of cats later, but he also recognizes the value of experience here.]

Them as in....the cat?
[But really, after all this, why not someone who talks to animals. why not.]
video; (whoops)
[It comes off a little defensive, maybe— he can't help it, he's not used to being forthright about his abilities.]

Right. Do you have any recommendations for food or toys?
no subject
[ have a file sent your way, filled with point form succinct notes on types of food - benefits of one brand over another, percentage of filler, which is best for which age and body type - varying litter brands and their pros/cons. best feline vets in each of the cities and their price range plus overall rating. best toys for active cats and best for inactive cats. list of DANGER: AVOID things. like plants and food items and yarn etc.
he did a ton of research after dragging his scraggily half feral bb home. ]

There's a sight I never thought I'd see. Be careful.
[ Is he talking to Kogami or the cat, we just don't know!! ]
video
At least--not to Gino.]Aw, Gino. You almost sound like you're worried.
[But we all know Inspector Ginoza Nobuchika never worries about anything, right? Right.]
Pets are supposed to lower stress, you know.

I know. [ Dude, he knows, you don't have to remind him. He kinda misses Dime. ]
But cats can be much harder to gain obedience from than dogs. [ He pauses then, eyes Kogami's hand ruffling through the cats short fur, and huffs a soft laugh. ] Though I don't think you'll have much of a problem.
[ When has Kogami ever had a problem with anyone, really. Everyone likes him, apparently even cats, where Gino has seen only sharp claws an hissing from his very limited attempts before he focused on his license. ]
Are you definitely intending on keeping her?
