Hey, I know it's late but thanks to the seven people who knew I deserved to beat Ikki-kun in the election. I can't blame anyone who didn't vote for me either. Who the hell really wants some teenager speaking for them, right?

Anyway. I've been thinking about something for a while. About what I want to do here. How...do people decide that?

I guess I would have tried if I got elected. I would have done my best, but I don't think it would've made me happy. I guess I don't know if anything here really will... I mean, not like a job or whatever is supposed to. It's not like I'm depressed or anything. Training and learning about my powers is still fun, but I don't know what I'll do with it once I've got them all figured out. But it isn't that way for everyone here, is it?

So...I want to know how all of you did it—if you did. How did you figure out what you really wanted to do? Was it an accident? Did you just know? Did you have to try different things until you figured it out? I just... I don't know where to start, and I'm tired of just feeling frustrated with things all the time.

But if you've no pressure to anything, then what is it you like to do and what are you good at?

I'm not really that great at anything, but I like practicing with my AT. They're like leveled up skates if you don't have them in your world. And I like helping people. At home all I had to do was bring a first aid kit and health drinks to fights, but I don't think that's going to cut it here.

And why not? People get hurt anywhere.

Roller skates. With wheels? Ours just have space-age motors in them.

What good is a first aid kit going to do when there are people with magic healing all over the place?

Are there that many? Someone ought to do a count.

Anyway, I know there are still hospitals here.

i didn't know what i wanted to do as soon as i got here, it took some figuring out and i think that's pretty normal.

after all, people worry a lot to start with if pursuing careers and things like that are worthwhile, because what if they leave tomorrow? will it have mattered? and so on.

but i got to thinking i wanna make my time here count. i don't want to waste seconds or years and be filled with regrets cause i didn't do anything. as for how i chose what to do...i just decided to go with what's most important to me, and that's helping people. i think it's important to follow what you're passionate about. whether or not you're good at it. because like...you can always improve, but you can't force yourself to love something, you know?

yeah, that sounds like how I feel. I've been here six months and now I just...want to do something.

How did you decide what the best way to help people was?

well, i'm not really into the whole superhero thing, for starters. can't be bothered with a fake name and spandex seems like it'd chafe...

uh

point being, i did a lot of protecting my town back home and not much here has changed, so i figured something along those lines but without all the gimmicks was what i needed to go with. i guess it helps that my grandpa was a cop, too...but mostly in the sense that it helped me with knowing what i was getting into.

If you figure it out, let me know. Most of the time I still feel like I'm biding time until I have to go back to my real responsibilities. It seems too incredible to be here for it to last so long.

As for what I'm actually doing, mostly just whatever catches my interest. Largely things I wouldn't have been able to do at home.

That doesn't sound any better than what I've been doing so far. Does any of it actually keep you interested?

Short answer: no.

Occasionally, yes. I've been enjoying being a barista a lot longer than I thought I would.

I don't think it's easy to decide what to do here; even now, I'm not really sure. But I've heard that's a bit how life is, no matter where you are.

I think you need to end up following your heart a bit, here. What you enjoy, what interests you, what seems important. Maybe what you are good at, too.

Everyone makes it sound so easy... But I guess that's just how it sounds.

How long have you been trying to figure it out?

Back home, I had it figured out for me, so I don't have to worry about that.

Here, so I suppose since I arrived. Two years, almost.

Two years?! Wow... I don't feel bad about just six months now.

I'm still trying many different things, but I think that most people seem to hold an opinion that you should do what makes you happy.

That might not be very helpful though. [ Skullman just wants to try goddamn everything at once because he has experienced Exactly Nothing. ] But everything is interesting to me, because I don't have much experience.

Maybe talking about it would help?

Talking with people has been helping so far. Someone suggested doing emergency aid work using my powers, and that might be satisfying for me.

I think coming up with a few more ideas won't hurt though. What kind of stuff have you been trying?

Learning how to knit and reading books. And playing the guitar. [ He's surprisingly good at it. ] From what information I have gathered, I think that making terrariums would be a good activity for me to learn next.

But I think this might be...boring? You seem more energetic than that.
