[Angela looks exhausted, dark circles are starting to show under her eyes, her hair is up in a messy ponytail with lots of fly away bits and she’s sighing as she pinches the bridge of her nose.]

My Valkyrie suit is damaged, I think it happened during the attack last month. I can summon it fine but the wings don’t extend fully and I’m pretty sure the right knee is close to just locking up. Normally this isn’t a problem, but then again, normally I’m at home with access to the correct technology and a team of engineers that can help me. Apparently my power just summons it in whatever state it was in when I let it go.

[She sits back at her desk and takes a drink from a very large mug. The suit is partially in view behind her.]

Does anyone have a lab or workshop I can use that has…better technology that what seems to be standard for this world? I don’t mind paying for the time spent and…the help I’d need.

I can't help you out as far as tools are concerned, but, if you need another set of hands...

[ North gestures at his own purple combat armor. ]

I know my way around tech that's more advanced than what they're working with here and now.

[She's impressed by the look of his armour. While it looks different to a lot of what she's seen back home, it still has a familiar over all look to it.]

I can always use an extra pair. I haven't done a full, in depth examination, I was just focusing on what I could see and feel. Someone has offered to look at it from StarkTech, but I wouldn't mind having another set of eyes. God knows mine are tired and the coffees aren't working.

The coffees never work when you need them.

[ He can sympathize with being tired in your bones and unable to quit because you aren't done yet. ]

I don't think the coffee's as strong here as it is at home, either. Maybe they've bio-engineered the beans or something, but I'm suddenly drinking half a pot a day.

And then when you actually need to sleep but accidentally drank a coffee six hours ago, that's when it kicks in.

[She looks at her cup and frowns.]

I use twice as much as normal for brewing as well. Bio-engineered it to what? Be less caffeinated? That would be cruel.

Oh, of course. That'd be the same night that you've got a wake-up call at 0500 hours, too.

[ He could really go for a cup of coffee right now, in fact. North stifles a yawn. ]

I've been using almost twice as much, myself. And no, I think they've learned to bio-engineer it to be more caffeinated in the future. It's the only reason I can come up with for why it's stopped working on me. I double-checked that file they gave me, and there's nothing about an added caffeine intolerance.

Hm, probably. I doubt it for my time, it might just be the blend I'm using. It's all I've got at the moment so I can't check to see if that's the case. But I suppose it makes sense for you if you come from a different time that's even further along. [When did talking about different times and worlds become so normal?]

[ Felix can relate to the armor problem, but he's focusing on a bigger issue because he sees that suit behind her. ]

She smiles a little.]

No, there's no shield.

Well, mine has a shield.

[ His triumph is fleeting, as he quickly deflates with a shrug and a rueful admission. ]

Yours is cooler, though. Can't beat wings.

[It's okay Felix, she hasn't listed everything it can do. A short list but...yeah the wings are cool.]

They even have projections that come out that look like giant feathers.

[Her own triumph might not come across from how damn tired she is at looking at the damn thing.]

Shields are handy though.

Well, that's good to hear. [although it does make something occur to him...] You know, I wonder... If damage to your armor persists between summonings, then any upgrades would probably persist as well.

Hm, well it does appear that it's physical state is the same. I think it has to do with our nanites since it actually comes...out of me almost? I think it must be read when it's both brought forth and returned. So I don't see why any upgrades wouldn't be permanent.

[Out of her...? He's going to have to watch that closer next time. It kind of reminds him of something. At any rate, he shrugs.]
