[Jacob films this post while standing in front of the white walls of Helix Station in Maurtia Falls, wearing a navy-blue tank top and black shorts. Judging by the sweat visible on his arms, he just finished his exercise for the morning. His ramrod-straight posture projects an image of Official Business that doesn't match his casual tone of voice, or his workout clothes.]

Hey, everyone. I'm Jacob Taylor. I work with RISE: that's an imPort police team, for all you new arrivals out there. I'm putting together something new for the community... kind of a public safety resource. Like the FAQ, but focused on who's causing trouble these days.

So I thought I'd ask: what do you think are the biggest threats around here? Criminals, terrorists, the Soviets? Maybe there's something most of us haven't heard about yet that more people need to know about. It's important to be aware, especially when people might want you dead. There's always something happening under the surface around here.

Oh, and just so we're clear: this is going to be a list focusing on groups, not individual people. So don't bother talking about who your least favourite imPorts are.

[He pauses for a moment, then relaxes his posture as he segues into more civilian matters.]

That's about it for official business. Unofficially... I was wondering if anybody has got suggestions on a good name for a dog.

[He's totally planning to get a dog. Heads up, MF 001 housemates!]

What, you mean obnoxious, trouble-making, and high-maintenance? [Even though he bursts out laughing, Toby understands the sentiment completely. That hardly begins a list describing Dorian's personality.] Wouldn't blame you one bit. Still, thanks for asking.

It's been some months since you moved to the area—how do you like living in Maurtia Falls?

I'm getting used to it. But if I'm honest, I can't say I like it better than De Chima. A lot of the time you don't get to see the Sun. And then there's the corruption, of course. I'm mainly here for work and to be closer to some people.

[Toby never sees the sun nowadays, and with good reason. Seems like he's the only vampire who'll turn to ashes with exposure. Still, he can respect that the vast majority of people aren't like him, which is probably for the better anyway.]

Completely understandable, and I respect your dedication to your work. And I suppose living here is far more convenient than commuting from De Chima, isn't it? I've visited there a few times, but don't really know what it's like to actually live there. What did you like about it?

[Jacob crosses his arms, thinking a moment.]

The tech, mainly. I'm from about a century in the future, compared to this place. De Chima is filled with research and gadgets. Working in a think tank and being surrounded by all kinds of cutting-edge products felt a little more like home.

[His voice is filled with awe and wonder:] The future—how incredible!

I don't think I've spoken to so many people from the future, and the last I recall doing so must've been... oh, I don't know. Almost a year ago, probably. Certainly has been some time, and she didn't seem all too excited to share about it. For whatever reason.

Still, what sorts of inventions and gadgets exist by then? what sorts of things are we still missing out on here?

[Because Toby had been amazed by the existence of cell phones, gaming consoles, and the Internet shortly after returning to life. Certainly the future has so much more to offer.]

It's a long list, but: regular space travel is probably at the top of it. We've made contact with lots of alien races. Most of them are friendly.

Aliens! So they really are out there? At least, where you're from. I'd imagine they're just trying to live out perfectly normal lives, as anyone on earth might be doing? Do any of them consider humans or... well, earthlings... hostile?

Some of them, yeah. We fought a First Contact war with the turians, and the batarians basically think we're a plague on the Galaxy. The Reapers are a whole different category: all organics are basically just bacteria to them.

But it's not all bad. Humans recently became a member race on the Citadel Council. That's the main political force in the Galaxy. It's where the big decisions get made... or don't.
