2 ☄ Video

[The video opens on a guy with a mass of long hair that's being tied behind with both hands. The feed captures his medical coat, and the dim blue hue of monitors to his back. Their light reflects off the metal shelf by his right, whilst his desk sits in darkness, save for a lamp pointed down at the papers on its surface.

Machines hum in the background; together with the ticking of a clock and nearby footfall. He takes a hasty glance and, unsure of how to begin things, shuts his eyes. Does he introduce himself? Does he jump straight to his question? His fingers pull the tie taut then tap his sides. Last month's events were a strange twist of fate - a collapse of logic - that did not allow them peace. Alas! They had raised a question he could not solve alone.

It takes a moment of thought before he talks. His voice is calm but his speech? Noticably slow.]

On examining the situation with the rise of native superheroes, as you call them, I find myself puzzled. We beheld those who were ordinary become capable of the extraordinary. I request you answer one question that's on my mind:

What is the place of imPorts in this world now?

Has it truly changed?

[ In fairness, Damen only arrived within the last month. He had not had powers before he arrived, and so they are as new to him as the natives who have, apparently, developed them at the same time. The ramifications of that aren't truly clear to him, given than he'd not really experienced this world before it happened. ]

Whether we are the only ones of our kind or no, we have power that would be useful to the army here. I do not think their interest in us would be made less. Do you?

There is no place. That hasn't changed.

You ask the question as though we should fit into some niche. By all evidence, we have not been brought here for any reason, so we can't expect this world to simply have a place in it's fabric for us.

We have to make one.

I never thought this as our place.

We were brought here by an outside force, not because the government wanted us to - they just made the best they could out of a situation in order to contain it: telling us we are heroes and giving us what you can call "perks" in hopes that will be enough.

[ Hemali finds the recent turn of events actually a bit... grating. More undeserving people who gained powers. Damn it, Tony Stark. ]

I suspect our place does not change.

Same as it always was--we're a bunch of people who wound up here and are stuck until we leave as randomly as we came, and in the meantime we're all just trying to live our lives.

Same place we've always had: the monkeys in the circus.

[ He paused. ]

Okay, maybe that's a little unfair. At least the obnoxious fanboying over us might go down a bit.

What the blue girl said. You only get a place if you carve it out yourself.

Our position has shifted profoundly, Doctor. Before we were unique on this Earth. Now, we have 'cousins' of a sort... or perhaps, rivals. We should make efforts to assist and guide these new 'metahumans' as they adapt to their powers. I would be very surprised if we were the only power to take an interest in them...

[The Count trails off for a moment to examine the background behind Victor's post.]

You have already acquired a laboratory to work in? Most impressive, I must say.

I don't know - I guess it all depends on how long these new guys stick around. I mean, if they got powers all of a sudden, then they can be taken away, right? Well, maybe not taken, but... I guess what I'm trying to say is, we don't know how long this is going to last, so it's hard to say how things are going to change for us.

We need to make things better for them.

[ It's the first answer out of his mouth - he'd been following the news bit by bit from the sidelines - he may have powers, but he's still unsure about the superheroism gig. ]

imPort society already has problems with enforcing laws on us, and government interest is all about what we can do, right? Some of us were given powers when we didn't have any-

I think, with more native people gaining powers, much like some of us did, we need to start revisiting the laws that govern us, to make sure that other people affected can have a semblance of peace.

I'm not sure it's truly changed all that much. We are still outsiders, and we are still no better or worse than them.

Not a damn thing has changed. They live in this world; we're all still here against here our will.
