[ the network post begins with a disgruntled exhale. great way to start, jones. nice first impression. clearly, this mysterious new arrival is glad to be here. ]

I'll make this quick and painless. The name's Jessica Jones, and I'm looking for answers.

They brand us like cattle. Expect us to play house. Assign crapass jobs.

And of all the places to wage the Cold War 2.0, they pick fucking Florida. [ she scoffs, as if that's somehow the worst offense of all. ] How do we leave this shithole?

[ there's a pointed beat of silence, as she presses her lips together in contemplation. almost as an afterthought, she adds: ]

And where can I get a drink around here? The cheaper, the better.

[ hmm, she doesn't like the sound of that — unless he's just planning to recommend the name of a bar. jess doesn't trust anyone here enough to meet them yet. but her thirst for booze is strong. decisions, decisions. ]

[ she doesn't reciprocate. there's a pause as she takes in his appearance, but no audible reaction. ]

[ the sarcasm is strong with this one. ]

[ he grins a little at the sarcasm, manner easy and open ]

All I'm saying is I'm still finding my feet around here. But I can tell you I know Maurtia Falls is the place to be if you like your drinks cheap.

[ Her view changes as he shifts the communicator in his hands to type on it. He's not the fastest but soon enough she'll get a text with directions to two bars on the seedier edges of town and a note that he'll be at the first if she's in the mood for company ]

[ sadly, she's not. being a misanthrope is hard work, okay. jess eventually heads to the second bar, but if he happens to show up after visiting the first one, well — she can't do much about that. ]
