[ Consider him curious. Maybe he shouldn't be and maybe he shouldn't even bother. But, sometimes at night—and after a martini or several, shh—certain questions and thoughts rise to the forefront of his mind no matter how much he may wish for them not to.

And, well, since he has some form of an audience here, Magnus figures: why not??

It's just audio for now, his tone is fairly even with just a small touch of amusement. Because if he can't poke fun at certain things, what's the point. Right? Right. ]

There's always quite a lot of discussion over what to do with time. Complaints about wishing to have more or wishing it would pass faster. So, I'm curious. What would you do if you had an infinite amount of time?

[ Even though the topic isn't exactly a nice one, there's still a flicker of a smile that comes to Magnus' lips when he sees Alec's face. Just can't be helped! And he doesn't know that he'd want it to, either. Except it does fall a little at the question. This isn't something new, but is something new coming from Alec. ]

No; just the restrictions I've discovered along the way. Though I've heard of others gaining things they hadn't had before. [ There's just a slight twitch, a small narrowing of his eyes. ] Why?

[ One eyebrow twitches upward as Alec compresses his lips into a thin line. It's now or never. ]

[ It's on the tip of his tongue to say something jokingly about feeling left out. He didn't get anything! But then Alec drops that particular bomb and it takes everything within Magnus to not react at all. Oh, he makes a good effort of it, but his expression still falls for a split second before he forces himself to settle into something neutral. Logically, he knows this doesn't change everything, but it changes something. There's so much about immortality that people don't think about. There's a part of him that wants to be happy about this, but it feels like some sort of strange trick.

He laughs a little, the sound strained and more breath than sound. It's a release of tension, really. ] Well—

[ That's good. He doesn't know what to say. Get it together. He inhales, brows knit together even though he tries to keep himself relaxed. ]

How do you feel about that?

So, you have control over time, then?

Now there's a positive way of looking at it!

[ He sees the moment when Magnus comprehends his meaning, sees the way his expression falls before he shores it up into neutrality. It tells him everything he needs to know.

And well, it isn't like he can blame Magnus for his lack of enthusiasm. An entertaining diversion loses its charm if it never goes away. ]

Fine. [ If it's true, there's nothing he can do about anyway. Alec's voice isn't harsh, but it and his face have closed off. ] Thanks for the suggestions.

[ Well, he can already tell he's handled this poorly. Granted he and Alec don't know each other deeply and thoroughly yet ( and trust that it's something he wants to come to pass ), but he can tell when he's put his foot in it. This isn't what he wanted. ]

[ Their exchange is made private now because it's their business. Now he really wishes they were in person to have this but it seems he's missed the window to invite him over. ]

Please don't misunderstand. My concern is with you, not for any other reason. [ Because he already knows Alec isn't suddenly a vampire. ] You know what immortality entails. It's not— [ he aims somewhere but doesn't like it so changes tacks mid-thought, ] easy. And I know from experience it's not just "fine" when it comes to light.

[ He mulls over what he wants to say for a moment. It seems weak and needy, two things he never wants to be, but it's also the truth and he isn't accustomed to shying away from the truth. Maybe he can reach a compromise with himself. ]

If it's true, there's nothing I can do except deal with it. [ The camera shakes a little as he shrugs. ] So I'm dealing with it.

[ That's both true and, to his mind, sounds suitably strong and confident. Which leaves him with the rest.  ]

I thought you'd be happier than this.

[ He leaves it at that. Because the rest is snide and aggressive and he's not ready to go there. Yet. ]

[ Whether it's the right thing to do or not, Magnus smiles. It's a small thing, though tender through it all. He doesn't want Alec to think he's disappointed by this—and he's not, there's just a plethora of questions he has over the whole thing. None of which he knows Alec can answer. ]

It seems a bit selfish for me to be happy for such a thing when I know what it brings. But even I can be just a little selfish.

[ Or a lot. Whatever. Who's counting? ]

Should this turn out to be true, it's not something you have to simply deal with. Not on your own. You couldn't possibly have a better guide!

[ Just a little tease to help lighten the atmosphere. The look on his face softens and even he doesn't realize it. ]

Having more time with you isn't something I'd turn away from.
