[ Mouse isn't very good at being on camera. He keeps fidgeting and glancing away, down at the rats huddled in his lap and resting on his bare shoulders. A thin tail flicks in front of the camera, and after some encouraging squeaks, Mouse speaks up again, sounding a little more sure of himself. ]

It's getting colder outside, and lots of rats are moving indoors and trying to stay warm. If you see any, don't freak out, and don't call the exterminators or set up traps, okay? I can come get them, and find them a better place to stay.

[ There's a 90% chance that this 'better place' will end up being his bedroom. Sorry, roomies! ]

If you want to be nice, try giving them some baked pumpkin seeds. Not too many though, or they'll get sick.

... I'm Mouse, by the way. Probably should have said that earlier.

You don't have to use traps at all! Would you want to get stuck in one?

You cannot be in each city to collect them all, nor expect people to just live with them until you arrive. It would be more reasonable to have them safely caught and held until you can retrieve them.

[ He trails off, realizing that this is a losing argument. First off, he's unsettled and has to go through security every time he wants to use one of the porters, second, he knows damn well that even once he's in a city, he still has to find his way around town. ]

... What are the humane traps like? They don't hurt them at all, do they?

No, they don't hurt them. They're boxes with a door that closes once the mouse or rat passes. The purpose is to catch and release in a better environment.

... Oh. That... that actually sounds okay. Maybe people could put pumpkin seeds inside for them to snack on til I get there.

It's easier to name stuff they don't eat. Licorice, for one. Don't give them any licorice.

I just brought up pumpkin seeds 'cause it's almost Halloween and there are lots of them around.

I am willing to use humane traps and collect any for you that come into my restaurant for repayment of a favor whenever I have need of it.

[ It takes a few seconds for that to sink in... and then he just grins. ]

Just don't ask me to do anything illegal, or hurt anybody. That's a big no.

[ Yeah it'll probably be illegal, but there are ways of prettying that up so it doesn't seem like it........ ]

I would prefer clothes, but shoes are not required.

[ Mouse has a terrible sneaking feeling that he might need a sweater, or... horror of horrors, shoes that aren't flip-flops if it's much colder than Florida. ]

The weather is moderate. It only gets cold at night. The days are fine.
