[Oh hey, this face hasn't surfaced in a while. It's old Doc Brown, sitting comfortably in a section of De Chima 03 that appears to have become a store-room for clock parts of all shapes and sizes. A large grandfather clock ticks away behind him, smaller clocks of all shapes decorate the walls...he's always had a bit of a collection, but it's grown out of control now. Some of the smaller pieces have attached calculators, some have egg timers, at least one includes a compass...the recent departures from this house have given him plenty of expansion room.

He's wearing three of his brand new watches on each arm, his hair's wilder than ever, ]

Hello, Dr. Brown here again! I know it's been a while but I've been working on a new project. It's silly and pointless, considering all that the march of technology has brought to our fingertips, but if you have a touch of nostalgia for days gone by? Or you'd simply like to have a backup on hand in the event that your communicator device meets an unfortunate fate?

I'd like to announce the opening of Outta Time, my timepiece design studio! I have a catalog of basic items that you can peruse here and order by digital mail, and I'd be delighted to fill custom orders or take suggestions for new items!

Thank you all---and of course I'm still available for any other inventing endeavors you'd like to add a set of hands to.

MONGE!! You invented time, zura?!

[He grins wide. He really misses you, bud.]

Not quite. Several of my inventions are related to it, or take advantage of it, but these devices are useful for tracking time.

[How very useful, especially for someone who can't track time at all.]

I would like one for my living room, please, zura.

I'll get right on it. Is there any particular style you'd like? Favorite color, a design style that interests you?

[O-Oh, that's a lot of choices...]

Ah...

...one that tells time, z-zura?

Well, yes, that's a given! Every item I sell tells time, but first let's see how you'd like to read it.

[He holds up three clocks: one digital display, one analog display with arabic numbers around the rim, and one with roman numerals. They're all perfectly synced, of course.]

Which one's easiest for you to read?

[The digital is definitely the easiest to read, but this isn't just Komasan's house he's trying to decorate. It has to be something everyone would like. Something...pretty.]

The easiest one is...the one that you think looks best on a tall clock, zura...

[And that is in no way him trying to lie or be sneaky and get a pretty clock, no way.]

Ah, a tall clock. Grandfather-style, perhaps with ornaments...a cuckoo clock, then?

[He has an example of that to show too, dragging the view screen toward the back of his room. On the quarter-hour, a few figurines pop out and do a little dance.]

I can add any figures you'd like.

Monge... So even clocks have families, zura...

[That's good to know.]

...I-I think I have an idea for the figures, but it might be a little hard, zura.

[He leans up to the screen, smile kind as ever.]

What were you thinking of?

I want the dogs, zura.

[He says that as if Doc should...just know what he means.]

I'm pleased to see you are moving forward with this.

Thank you, Mr. Gold. It's an exciting prospect, and it's certainly keeping me busy.

My housemates have moved away or ported out. I need something to fill space and make noise, and the ticking's perfect.

...You are well, then?

It's a little lonely, but nothing I'm not accustomed to. The dogs still need me.

Are you well?

Classes are going well; it keeps me busy when I have no projects to finish. ...I've enjoyed having fuller evenings, however.

Oh, have you? I'd certainly hope so.

[He chuckles, reminded that he always has something to look forward to.]

That depends. What would you like to do?

I'd like to learn to cook again. Qubit was largely responsible for the meals around here, and it's probably best that I don't go back to takeout.

Other than that, I've always enjoyed movie night.

[ A chuckle. ]

I think both can be arranged.

Great. What are you in the mood for tonight?

Something simple but satisfying that keeps well.

...As for film, you have far more experience in that arena than I.

Nothing elaborate, then. Pasta, you think?

And as far as films, I have a few selections---though, again, I have to warn you that a downbeat film might not be my best selection right now.

I'm sure I can find something in that vein.

[ And since he's going for simple he can do storebought today, he supposes -- not like he has the materials to handmake it anyway. ]

And of course. I understand.

On the other hand, a moderately emotional piece could be enjoyable. For tangentially related reasons.

What matters most about it is spending that time with you, after all.

[ He still doesn't know what to do when he comes right out of nowhere like that. Being sweet. ]

A few expressions of interest. I'm mostly attempting to generate buzz at the moment.

I hope this work carries more stability and safety than my last few endeavors.

You could set up a booth at the swear-ins perhaps. I'm sure there are plenty people who'd be eager to buy.

An excellent suggestion, thank you. I'll work on having a suitable range for display.

There are a few other things I'd like to consult you about, but I'll save that for tonight.

I don't know about everyone else, but the idea of watches on one's wrist is pretty innovative to me. And pretty useful too!

[Guess who is pursing that digital link right now?]

Congrats on getting your store open. Are you going to open somewhere or is it going to a home work kinda deal?

I'll be operating by mail order and home delivery for now. My housemates have left, so there's considerable space to convert into storage.

Would you like one, Nike? First is on me.

I'd love to have one. But are you sure? I don't mind paying for it. I really want to help you out.

[As much as she loves free stuff, somehow she couldn't accept it when he just opened up shop. She wanted to help support him.]

I greatly appreciate your kindness, but it's all right. You've given me more than enough, and I know you've had hard times lately.

[That will get her to smile.]

Aw, shucks. You really spoil me at times. But I'll happily accept it. I'll try my best to let everyone know the genius that made it for me!

[He wants to deny it, but instead he'll smile broadly at her.]

[ Maybe it is a silly thing. And maybe there is some nostalgia wrapped around the idea. Then again; ]

Time never goes out of style. [ Unfortunate but true. It's always there. ] I'd like two.

[Now that's a hopeful answer. Doc lights up.]

Any particular color or style you favor, sir? Made to order at no extra cost.

[ He takes a bit to respond, clearly thinking this over. ]

One I'd like to be black and resistant to general wear and tear. Strong. Matte finish. Very classic. The other... [ he trails off, tapping his finger, ] Something fun and flashy—I'll leave the details up to you on that one.

[Doc takes careful notes, then takes a pen to paper and draws the first order.]

This will be number one. I have an interesting prototype in store that will become a fine number two, I believe.

They'll be ready Monday.

Oh! [ He sounds surprised for a moment; then pleased, ] Well. Don't you work fast!

I certainly look forward to seeing what you come up with. [ A pause, then; ] My name is Magnus Bane, by the way, should you need it.

My tastes are quite varied, so I'm quite sure I'll find anything you come up with suitable and able to be paired with anything I have in my wardrobe.
