So. It's winter, which means it's the holiday season where you circulate those online shopping "buy me these things" lists, spend too long in retail shopping lines--and realize you honestly don't know what to buy people who you know REALLY well.
I don't say this often, and you probably won't hear it again, but HALP PLS.
Shopping for: Male. Mid-Thirties. NERD. Likes space and math and robots. Dresses like an academic dork (stuffy librarian). Significant enough other that a spending limit does not exist by default. Nor is a gift objectionable due to being "too personal" or "too significant." Does not need a new watch, nor a new winter jacket. Rarely wears ties. Does not wear jewelry.
Alright, and just because: What's the BEST gift you've received?

I want a gem collection, but right now I want to collect books. I want to get a book on gems one day.
I barely understand birthdays myself, but I think I understand. The passage of time, you mean.
Does your friend want any books?
no subject
The passage of time, yeah.
Maybe he does. My friend reads really boring books about numbers, though. I'm not sure I could pick a good one--they all put me to sleep.

I borrow books from the library from the school I go to. I have yet gone to the Heropa library.
[ Although he has quickly grown bored of the books at his school - he hasn't read them all, but they aren't as stimulating as they used to be. Pretty soon he's going to advance beyond his classmates' level. ]
What about robots? This world seems to have a lot of them.

Robots? for you or for my friend? My friend MADE robots, I mean, he coded them--so he's pretty set on robots. I think. He could make a robot himself if he really wants one...he wouldn't want anything I built for him.

I like a lot of things. Music. Art. Buildings. I like gems, but I like how people wove gems into other metals like gold or silver.
I meant to say robots for your friend. What about history of robots in this world?

Gems woven in metal? You mean like jewelry? [File Attached: ring.jpg [colored similarly to the linked pic, but the one Newt sends as an example of jewelry is a photo of his own engagement ring on his hand--styled somewhat like a men's class ring]]
I...yeah, maybe he would like that. Thanks! I'll look into it.

Oh yes. I don't understand most of the things his books are about -
[ Because Aurican totally read some of Kang's books ]
but they look interesting.
Yes. Like that. The necklaces, the chains, anything like it.

Do dragons not make or wear jewelry? Do you normally keep just the raw gems?
YIKES at my failed html
I think so. But not in the way humans made it. Back home there's a giant nest made out of metal wire, and imbedded in the wires are gemstones. I was the first to find out how to pry the gems out of the nest, and we use them to play games.
Lol no worries

We slept on it naturally. The nest was the center of this giant grotto. Water flowed on one wall, and bats come in the other. It was good, but we didn't dare to leave the grotto through the darkness. It's why I didn't know about the sun until I came here.

No, because we never wanted to go through the darkness beyond. We felt safest in the nest.

No. We've never tried to explore it.
