TEXT (not a misfire)

[One December afternoon as carols and the sound of jingle bells belt from every business' speakers, filling people with Christmas cheer (and exhaustion) weeks before the actual event, one imPort posts a text to the network.]

You'd think that with there being four of us ordering at least one of us would get our name right, right?

l o l no

[Attached to the post is a selfie of teens showing off their favorite signature holiday drinks, but the focus of the picture are the names -- confidently scribbled across the cup of each drink are Grant, Kenneth, Utah, and Moore, and anybody who knows these boys will know that those are pretty much the 4kids dub version of their names at best.]

Let's pretend there's a campfire and share some stories about ways your name has been spelled or pronounced since coming here. I'm sure it's happened to a majority of us. (´。` )

((ooc: Any of the boys featured in the post -- Gran, Kidou, Endou, Ken -- may respond to you!! Likewise, feel free to threadjack and hit up anybody and consider it a shitpost free-for-all. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.))

Bob.

[all you need is a quick look at her network id to know...yeah. yeah. the disdain practically seeps out of that single text message.]
oceanthief: (i'll need you by my side)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Is it that hard to understand? I thought humans had a regular gem named the same thing.
oceanthief: (she said i hate the rain)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think that might actually be an improvement.

They're starting to not really surprise me at this point.

[she's been here over a year now. she's starting to expect all this stupidity - not that she can handle it any better.]
oceanthief: (one day i'll see you around)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
I know how to say it. That's really all that I can hope for from anyone.
oceanthief: (and said we can't live forever)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Usually. [Steven......] If they don't get it after the first few times it's easier to just let it go.

The only name that's actually important to most people is their own, no matter what they say. It's up to everyone else to fix whatever mistakes they make.

[it's all about identity, right? and no one's identity is more important than your own, in the end.]

What's the matter with a small name? Is that an earth thing? It seems pretty practical.

Nah, he's got nothing.]

I suppose there's always one that's going to be way off target.
oceanthief: (she crashed like an atom bomb)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
It started at home. I don't know why it keeps happening.

[DOES SHE LOOK LIKE A BOB TO YOU]

[personal profile] starlinings 2016-12-07 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well your haircut is a bob so]

Cross dimensional coincidences. That's so strange.

Were you in America back then too? Maybe it's a cultural thing.

Maybe.
oceanthief: (and i don't think i get it)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-07 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I might have been? Heropa looks an awful lot like Beach City.

[here's a confession time: Lapis still doesn't actually know how much of the globe 'America' encompasses. trying to equate the geography of two completely different earths is practically impossible for her.]
starlinings: (2)

[personal profile] starlinings 2016-12-10 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Was it really called Beach City?

That seems so...redundant.

[Coming from the Alien from Aliea.]
oceanthief: (and i don't think i get it)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-10 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean? It was a city by the beach.

[she's from a race of gems who names themselves after their stones, thus creating a species with thousands of people sharing the exact same name. Lapis doesn't see the problem here.]
starlinings: (☆ Gran | That's good)

[personal profile] starlinings 2016-12-13 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's accurate, yes, but aren't there many cities like that?
oceanthief: (one day i'll see you around)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-13 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I only ever saw Beach City.
starlinings: (☆ Gran | Syrupy like honey)

[personal profile] starlinings 2016-12-13 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose you can't fault them for false advertising.
oceanthief: (i'll need you by my side)

[personal profile] oceanthief 2016-12-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
What would they be advertising in the first place? It's just a city.
starlinings: (☆ Gran | Pulling pranks)

[personal profile] starlinings 2016-12-13 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Cities are often places where people meet up to shop or spend time together.

They like to advertise to bring more people in.
