[Jacob appears in the video wearing off-duty clothes: cargo pants and a tight black t-shirt, with an empty holster at his hip. Judging by the weapons and tactical gear he's surrounded by, he's making this post from Helix's armory. He's got a cloth in his hands, cleaning something that looks an awful lot like an old-fashioned ray gun, courtesy of the setting's retro-50s aesthetic.]

Hey, everyone. The year's off to a hell of a start, isn't it? For you new people out there, I'm Jacob Taylor. I work with RISE: that's a government team that helps keep order around here. I've got an announcement, and I've got a favour to ask.

The announcement is that the RISE Threat Roster is live. It's supposed to be a resource that will keep people informed of who's gunning for imPorts. I'm in charge of updating it, so if you know about any native super-criminals or terrorist groups that should be on there, let me know. No imPorts right now, though- that's a whole different issue.

[He finishes cleaning the ray gun- a reward from the government for recent heroism- and sets it down on the work table in front of him. Then he leans over the table with his palms down, resting his weight on his arms.]

That's the announcement. Here's the favour. I could use some help repairing my house in Maurtia Falls, and upgrading its security. We've had some uninvited guests lately. They made a serious mess. I'm looking to put the place back together, and to make damn sure nothing like this can happen again.

[His piece said, Jacob pushes off from the table and picks the ray gun back up, holstering it at his side.]

That's right. We had an alarm system, for all the good that did us. Now I'm thinking more about external cameras at the entrances. And maybe putting a panic room in the basement.

[She wasn't looking to join any groups that actively fought against the threats. Laurel had been doing her own thing.]

Can't say I'm handy with fixing up places but I make good coffee.

No problem. If it helps, most of them don't come up often. That's one of the reasons for the list: so people know about the bad guys who stay in the background.

Anyway, we'll definitely need good coffee while we're working. We're not sure yet if our coffee machine got booby-trapped.

[Jacob grimaces a little, aware of how weird that sounds.]

Thanks, Kaidan. I'll take you both up on that. We're going to be fixing up most of the second floor, and hardening the defenses on the building. There'll be plenty of work to go around.

[Pause.]

How is Shepard, by the way? I heard his amp took a hit during the blackout.

Sounds just like being stationed on a planet, you know that.

[ A pause, then. Just for a moment. ]

He's...okay. Gave us a hell of a scare for a bit, but... he's doing better. Things are getting back to normal, at least.

And heck, Mako found herself a job around the house. [ Mostly comforting a very sour Shepard while he healed up. ]

There usually a lot of scumbags gunning for imPorts, or did I just get here at a bad time?

Both. We've always had enemies. Some of them come and go, but there's always trouble out there. The blackout is about as bad as I've ever seen things get, though.

Sure. You can find Network posts and news articles on just about anything, if you know where to look. But I don't know what category the blackout was just what. Maybe it was the Soviets, or maybe it was some new enemy I'm going to have to add to this list.

That's the idea. We can just show them this page instead of trying to explain about the Hornets and the occupation and everything else.

Hold on. I'll show you.

[A moment later the video switches to a picture Jacob took of the damage earlier. The upstairs hallway in Maurtia Falls 001 is scorched and pitted, with bullet holes visible in the walls and even a few crossbow bolts lodged here and there. The main damage is from an explosion, though: it looks like a bomb went off. Because that's what happened.]

We're looking at replacing some of the walls, and a lot of the floor. We'll also have to look at the wiring, too: the asshole booby-trapped some of the light switches.
