[ Good evening, Mask or Menace! Jaime's back, and while he doesn't look any older, he certainly looks tired and a little sour to boot, like someone just fed him a nintendo switch cartridge real bitter pill. It was a long month. ]

So, um... hey! I'm back. That was definitely the longest I've been ported out for, but I gotta ask: what happened while I was gone? Because I got back, and all of a sudden, like, half of the people I know are gone. Dick's gone, Tadashi's gone again, Fuu's gone, Sarissa's gone, so's my Mom...

Was this just the Porter, or what?

[ It probably is - people tend to leave in waves - but it's left him feeling a little shellshocked, and it's worth searching for answers at the very least. He raises a hand to rub at the back of his neck, playing a little with the hair at the nape. ]

Um, anyway. Good to see you guys who are still here. And for all the newbies, I'm Jaime. Nice to meet you.

Thanks for the thought, though. Uh... I wasn't going to mention it, but was it you who gave my room a paint job? Last I remember, I didn't do quiiiiite this much decorating.

Thanks for the thought. But, um... what do eyes have to do with that? You can't, like, see out of them, right?

Um, no, it's-- [ He pauses, blinking, then adds: ] Like, uh, protection. From-- you know.

[ He hesitates, then points to his own eye. Because surely that gets his intent across. ]

Frommmmmmm...?

[ Jaime points at his own eyes. He's not sure why. He's just joining in. ]

[aojona]

[ Pablo says nothing, as if waiting for Jaime to finish that sentence before it finally dawns on him that it's Pablo who's expected to fill in that blank. ]

Uh-- from evil and malevolence?

[ What else...?? ]

Okay. I mean, appreciated.

[ Pablo, it super didn't work. ]

I'm just a little confused as to how it works? Also confused about what the evil and malevolence would be.

[ Confused about everything, Pablo. ]

I don't really know of any of that either. It's, uh... well, I guess it's more of a precaution, too. You know? [ He will really never be able to make things less confusing. ] Did a lot happen while you were home?

...yeah. Yeah, it was pretty busy. I'm glad to be back, for what it's worth.

[ Hard to really tell what that means, but it's not like Pablo's ever been great with that. ]

Did you see your dad and sister?

I did. Not as much as I'd like to, but I did. Thanks for asking.

[ He wishes he could see them again, but not the way he saw them last, that's for damn sure. ]

Do you, uh, mind if I paint over the eyes?

That's good. Or, well... like, it's better than nothing. Especially considering the timing and everything.

[ The way it sounds is probably a little too matter-of-fact, but Pablo means it sincerely enough. And simply, with a nod: ]

Not at all. I mean, it is your room-- I didn't know if you'd be coming back or not.

Okay! Not that I don't appreciate the thought but they're, uh, kind of creeping me out?

[ Of course, they have some not-so-great news to deal with too. ]

You go through any of Dick's stuff yet? I swear, our house is cursed.
